I have finally been getting more into Bob Dylan .. I only know a fraction of his music - mostly his early stuff - but of the songs I am familiar with :

- With God On Our Side

- It Ain't Me Babe

- Don't Think Twice

- Ballad in Plain D

- Masters Of War

Chronologically seems to be a good way to do this:

Girl from the North Country

Boots of Spanish Leather

Wedding Song

You’re a Big Girl Now

Hurricane

Masters of War (along with War Pigs my 2 favorite anti-war songs of all-time...."I'll stand over your grave til I'm sure that you're dead".

Tangled Up in Blue

Like A Rolling Stone

Every Grain of Sand

It Ain't Me Babe

REALLY hard to narrow down to 5

1. Positively 4th Street

2. Mr. Tambourine Man

3. Like a Rolling Stone

4. Ballad of a Thin Man

5. It Ain't Me Babe

Aw shit, I forgot Positively 4th Street.

"....you'd know what an drag it is to see you......".Tremendous put down line

And I want Mr. Tambourine Man in mine too. And Ballad of a Thin Man. Crap

Perfect examples of why 5 is too few!

1 all along the watchtower

2 blowing in the wind

3 knocking on heavens door

4 like a rolling stone

5 tangled up in blue

I have seen bob twice. And lets say I prefer his studio work.

And my #1 song of his was done best by hendrix with the dead coming in at 2nd.

I think the Dead were the only band who could do full justice to Bob's songs. Jerry doing Visions of Johanna is just stunning.

Top 10, chronological

Girl From The North Country

Don't Think Twice It's Alright (Probably my absolute favorite)

Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll

My Back Pages

It's All Over Now Baby Blue

Like a Rolling Stone

Stuck Inside of Mobile With The Memphis Blue Again (this song is what really got me into Bob Dylan and is still a favorite today)

Lay Lady Lay

Tangled Up In Blue

Not Dark Yet

I've been listening to him for years but I ashamedly still haven't got/heard every album in his discog. Less than half actually, 16/38.

Always gotta love those Drums>Space>All Along the Watchtower sequences. Or Miracle>Gimmie Some Loving. They just had a thing for all of that.
