  1. 1. 70's or 80's Judas Priest?

    • 70's (Rocka Rolla, Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin, Stained Class, Killing Machine, Unleashed in the East)
    • 80's (British Steel, Point of Entry, Screaming for Vengeance, Defenders of the Faith, Turbo, Ram It Down, Priest...Live!)

hm....good question

Sad Wings and Stained Class

or

British Steel and Screming For Vengeance

I'd have to say I lean a smidge toward the seventies since I know there are at least two more albums there I've yet to hear that are supposed to awesome, plus there's Sin After Sin, which is great, whereas I'm only aware of one album from the 80s that I haven't heard that's supposed to be that level of awesome.

But you know, anymore my rankings go something like:

Stained Class

Screaming For Vengeance / British Steel

Sad Wings Of Destiny

Sin After Sin

so...yeah, lol this is tough.

70s, and not even close

I like British Steel and Point Of Entry .. In fact, I think Point Of Entry is extremely underrated

But Sad Wings thru Killing Machine/Hell Bent For Leather is a run that is difficult to top

.. and while we're on the topic, Screaming For Vengeance might be the most overrated metal album of all time

Turbo is embarrassing

.

ALL Priest and I see nothing else. As far as my eyes go mine is the first post in this thread. I wonder how I started it without starting it? I must be a genius! A true genius. Mark this moment in your journals and logbooks TRFers, the realisation of a genius. I can start threads without starting them! I'm a god of music forums! Bow down you pissants and meet your LORD! :sundog:

70s no doubt. More innovative musically, better songs and created an original sound that was so influential that every metal band that came after copied it in some way.

There was still good stuff in the 80s they just weren't as consistent. Point Of Entry, Turbo and Ram It Down don't have much worth listening to except for a few songs on each.

The 70s had more great albums, and the 80s had the only few average albums, so the 70s gets the nod.

Every single album from both decades has at least a few great songs, even albums like Turbo and Point of Entry.

This was pretty close for me. My top 5 Priest are:

1. Defenders Of The Faith (84)

2. British Steel (80)

3. Killing Machine (78)

4. Stained Class (78)

5. Sad Wings Of Destiny (76)

So I guess I vote 70s...

how is Screaming not on this list? Electric Eye may be the greatest metal song of all time.

I'm picking 70's by far. Wings, Class, Unleashed - no contest.

Not a big fan of their 80's output.

Album Defenders of the Faith is a good example of DISCO/GLAM metal phase of Priest. Meh...

Turbo is a disaster.

Thanks for making me choke on my morning coffee...

I thought Defenders was a killer album from my high school years.

Can't really vote. ALL Priest.

This guy is a kind of passive Priest hater, every time he does a Priest poll he gets some little dig in.
