Has anyone met THE BASS GOD??

I've met Doug Pinnick from Kings X (along with the other guys) several times and he is one of the nicest, most genuine guys around....very humble about his talent, and genuinely interested in what we had to say...we ended up drinking with him and the roadcrew till the early hours...

I met Doug once after a King's X show. You're right, very engaging. Seemed like he genuinely cared what I was saying. Of course, the fact that I introduced him to my brother, He Plays Bass, another left-handed bassist from the suburbs far south of Chicago, didn't hurt!

Coming back home into yyz - there is a sea of people waiting for loved ones at the International arrivals terminal as soon as you get your luggage and clear Customs. I was travelling alone and just trying to make my way through the crowd - as I broke through the last of the mob I was walking directly toward Geddy leaning against a column 10 feet in front of me. After thinking for the split second that I had, the next 20 seconds were the most beautifully awkward mix of me smiling, shaking his hand, mumbling something about being a fan etc etc. He handled it in stride, thanked me and we both went about our day. I didn’t stop smiling for a week.

My only interaction with Geddy occurred when he was doing some promotional appearances for My Favorite Headache at different record stores across the country. He appeared at a record store here in Orange County, CA and the promise was he’d sign 2 items with one having to be the MFH album/CD, and the other your choice of album or tour program

We were feeling pretty good about getting there a couple hours early until we pulled in and saw that the line went all over the shopping center. I have never seen a line come close to that one.

A few hours later, we finally got to meet him. It was extremely quick to accommodate everyone, but he posed for a

couple pictures too. I had my Counterrparts tour program signed along with the CD. My overall impression was that he looked incredibly tired and twas just kind of done with it by the time we got up there. I said something about the impact of his music in my life and he forced a smile and muttered something along the lines of a thank you that I couldn’t make out. It was Clearly something that wasn’t his cup of tea, but he fought the good fight and stayed much later than scheduled to Accommodate all those people. Looking back, I truly think he did his best to be engaging when it was in reality very uncomfortable for him.

You are so lucky! I would LOVE to meet Geddy by total chance one day!

Of course Geddy would be tired- there was a LONG line of fans outside! And... uncomfortable? That sounds more like Neil than Geddy. Still, good of him to stay for his fans for so long. Based on the fact that it was the MFH promotion, I would say part of his uncomfortable-ness may have been due to his grief following the hiatus/Neil's tragedies. But that's just me.

I never met him, but I found out last Sunday that he lives less than 5km away from my place!!! He lives in Rosedale in Toronto, and I run with a group there. One of my fellow runners said he saw Geddy walking his dog there a couple of years ago, and that actor Eugene Levy lives there too.

I have heard that he has been seen walking his dogs at the park there.

I was told that too. It's about 100 meters from the sports store I bought the marathon program from. My runs started there every Wednesday and Sunday for the past 18 weeks.

He was polite but quiet, Alex on the other hand lol

Yeah, that's pretty much what I said about Geddy.

Reserved. But definitely polite.

I found Alex quite darling, but that's a girl's point of view, lol.

"When I was flying back from Lubbuck, I saw Geddy on the plane...or maybe it was Elvis..you know they kinda look the same..."

He said, "Look out, junior..you're stepping on my bed" I didn't say nothing. He just glared at me and said.."

I'll try to hit The Orbit Room eventually and see if I can meet Alex... rumour has it that it's more common to see him there on Sundays.

In the meantime, here he is showing the Orbit Room office area...

And here's a peculiar vid. It's Alex playing guitar in what appears to be a run-of-the-mill izakaya (a bar/restaurant) in Tokyo next to Konishki, a former sumo.
