Hopefully he laid to rest anyone’s hopes of a reunion tour. He’s not even releasing his book for a year. If anything, it sounds like he will record something but not as rush. I enjoyed the history of his family. Although, I knew most of the info it was still powerful to hear. Edited by Ancient Ways

Im not sure if it was talked about before, but Geddy was talking about how is parents met back at one of the camps during WW2. And how after the war ended they found each other again and got married and moved to Toronto.

Also he said his favorite album (not by how successful an album was) was Clockwork Angels. He said that album brought all of the fazes of Rush into one album

Don’t have AXS so couldn’t watch. Anyone want to share spoilery thoughts/insights/interesting moments?

For those who don't have access to AXS TV, the episode will be made available for digital purchase the following day for $2 at this location here.

I've posted this twice already. Nobody has to worry about missing the interview as long as they buy the 'effing' clip. Does anyone pay attention to details in posts?

This $2 investment to me is more worthwhile than buying a beverage at an expensive coffee shop.

AXS is showing the Geddy Lee interview again on channel 746 if you have Xfinity. 5:00 pm PST. I am taping it.

It was interesting to me to see pictures of his family. I don't recall seeing his children and definitely not his grandchild. His son must have got his looks from his mom because he's got lighter hair and is a good looking guy.

I think his kids have grown up to be very handsome and beautiful. They look like their mom.

Ok, so no more Rush albums or tours... how about a reunion of The Dusty Coconuts? Count me in for that!!!!

That was hilarious.

I got the feeling Rush is done. And it's not because of Neil Peart!

But, Geddy has passions and I don't think we have heard the last from him.

Very good interview.

What did he say that makes you think it’s not because of Neil?

WHAT?!!! You mean fraroc is wrong?!!

It HAD TO be Peart's fault!!!!!

:P

Peart demanded retirement, Lee accepted the reality handed to him

I didn't get it when Geddy said this was the first time he has been off for six consecutive months

It's not like Rush has been a touring machine the last 4+ years. 46 of the last 50 months have featured no Rush touring. Which is fine, I just didn't get that comment made now, maybe in 2013, but not 2017.

Yeah, I didn't get that out of his replies either. Basically sounds like he was merely tap-dancing around naming the reasons why. That's the luxury of being interviewed by someone not really in the know, you don't have to go there as you might a rock "journalist."

I've seen some ask "Why Dan Rather?" I found it pretty cool to see these two generations talk. Clearly Dan probably didn't have much if any real familiarity with the band, outside maybe knowing the band name on the periphery of his pop culture knowledge somewhere, being a journalist and all (and a damn good one). But I thought it was cool because this kind of interview begs for different questions and varied approaches to answers. I dug that Rather was very interested in the Holocaust impact on Ged's life and picked around at that. That's honestly the most I've heard Geddy discuss it in a stream of conversation. Clearly that kind of thing is more interesting to Rather than the nuances of Lee's style or why he gave up on the Wal. :P

Anyhow, I quite enjoyed it. I get the impression Dan was more than just a bit impressed with this long-haired hippie guy. :D

So, fraroc IS right after all !

And Geddy is a lazy, loafing slacker!

I got it. Thanks.

Someone recorded it on periscope. You can watch it here.

You have to skip 20 minutes in past the Hendrix stuff.

Thanks for posting that. Geddy Lee sure is an interesting, articulate and modest guy.

You’re welcome and I agree. He seems like he’d be a great guy to have as a friend.

If nothing else, he probably wouldn't want to throw Neil under the (touring) bus, since they're actually friends versus just band mates.
