Above are two polls...who do you think will win, and who do you want to win?

For me, I think the Astros will win, despite the fact that I want them to win. I think the Astros have a deeper lineup and they can match the Dodgers starters, and they have good bullpen depth (it's surprising to me that Hinch has lost so much faith in Devenski.)

But I wouldn't give them more than about a 55% chance to do it (maybe not even more than 51%). I think (and hope) it will be a good exciting series.

Evenly matched series and both teams haven't had a championship for years (or never in the case of the Astros). I'm routing for the Astros since they've never tasted a championship and that area of the country could use some lifting of spirits after the hurricane.

As a huge fan of irony, it would be nice for Verlander to finally get a championship with his new team that he couldn't pick up after years with the Tigers.

Are they even still having a World Series this year? After my Yanks lost all the network execs committed mass suicide.

Yankees haven't been in the World Series since 2009. So I think it's safe to say the network execs have adapted by now.

That doesn't mean they didn't have a big, throbbing boner at the possibility of thrm there. No one outside Houston cares about Houston. A lot of folks don't even realize they're in the American League now.

And no one but Yankee fans care about them but a lot more not Yankee fans want them to lose than care about Houston winning.

You keep right on believing that...

The two highest world series tv ratings since 2004 didn't involve the Yankees. Cub/Indians in 2016 and Red Sox/Cards in 2004.

https://en.wikipedia...evision_ratings

Going back to 1984, the top 5 highest rated series didn't involve the Yankees (per link).

Apparently the baseball world doesn't revolve around the Yankees.

And nor does the rest of the world revolve around NYC, but try telling just about anyone from there that without getting yelled at or punched.

This old Reds fan goes way back to the NL West Division of the 70's, when the Reds and Dodgers were arch-enemies, with the Astros always bringing up the rear in that division.

My uncle was VP in charge of International Banking at Cincinnati Bank and Trust during the heyday of the Big Red Machine. He had to entertain clients at the game in their skybox at Riverfront. That must have been frustrating, to have one of the most powerful offenses in baseball history in your presence, and not be able to see them that much.

Larry King is still alive!

Oh, I thought that was an extra from the walking dead...

It does get kind of annoying when after every Astro swing and miss, he yells "Houston, hello?"

OK, that advertising sign for YouTube right behind home plate is really irritating.

It keeps making me think that I just logged onto YouTube on my computer..... :sarcastic: :sarcastic:
