I was just diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, and will spend a few weeks treating it...no running for a long while. :(

Bummer. Really sorry to hear that, Rod.

I've had that, it took quite a while to completely clear up, if I'm honest it took a couple of years. Let me just check your symptoms; do you feel pain after you've been sitting for a while, when you get up? And does your heel area feel really weird like something is moving around in there and it feels kind of mushy when you walk?

I only feel pain when I wake up and first set foot on the ground. Aside from that, there´s some tingling in different parts of the foot, but nothing much. I started phisio this week, and two sessions in, I´m feeling much better. At home I´m also using an elastic band to stretch and lots of ice on the sole.

Yeah that's right there's no pain while running or after running it's after a long spell of inactivity that it hurts.

I dunno if you guys have had any experience with accupuncture, but I decided to stop the phisio for a few days and tried accupuncture - ONE session in and I´m feeling 80% better! The doctor says that with two more sessions I´ll be ready to hit the tracks again.

I had it done last year and that really helped. It's not a long-term fix, but it sure eases the pain a little.

I had that a couple years back. I got these inserts for my sneakers at a sporting goods store, Good Feet or something like that. Worked like a charm. It took about a year and a half to go away completely.

I got those inserts too...and I had this exact same injury before, in 2013, I believe. After while it just faded, and it´s happening already this time. I´m managing 08km runs every second day. There´s still some pain, but nothing unbearable. I´ll take a break at the end of April when we´ll be settling in Toronto, so I assume I´ll have no pain by mid year.

I think they're actually Superfeet. I used the green ones. It was really only a problem first thing in the morning when I stepped on the floor after getting out of bed. I never had a problem running once I had the Superfeet in my shoes.

Hey BArney, who do you train with in Canada? I joined one of the Running Room clinics - the Rosedale one - and I´m training for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon in October 22nd. Should be an interesting run. I´ll do 29km next Sunday.

Did you move to Canada? You work not too far from me. I am with Running Room too, but north of the city. I am running that race too, but I am not aiming for a PR but pacing a friend. My target time is 4:30ish.

BTW, I got into Boston!!

Let's hook up. Send me a PM. We can go on a long run some time.

I run, but mostly on the treadmill. I dated a guy who ran marathons. I also dated a guy who played in the NHL, an Olympic athlete, a cricket player, and a guy who was on my university's Masters swim team.
