Any Chuck Palahnuik fans out there?

I enjoy some of his work, namely Fight Club and Choke, but I find the majority of his books, that I've read anyway, hard to take seriously because it feels like he tries a bit too hard to be gross at times.

 

Guys like Burroughs and Selby wrote far more convincingly about filth, and as for contemporary authors who do the same, I usually go with Irvine Welsh and Bret Easton Ellis.

Yeah, I see your point. I read Haunted and it was too over the top gross for me, except for the story entitled Guts.

I am a huge fan of his. I've read Invisible Monsters, Fight Club, Haunted, Damned, Doomed, Choke, Tell All, Lullaby and Beautiful You. I've met Chuck twice. Edited by Boots

You MET him? Colour me envious... what was it like?

 

He's amazing, I've read Snuff, Lullaby, Haunted, Survivor, Invisible Monsters and Stranger than Fiction.
