Rest In Peace - Tom Petty Died

Ok, this is very weird, but they just said on our news that the reports that Tom Petty is dead are false according to his family. Supposedly he IS still in the hospital on life support. Doesn't sound good in any case. My heart goes out to his family.

I thought this was a joke - I go out food shopping and come to this on top of Vegas, and a few things going on in my own life.

Not good.

Praying for you Tom Petty :rose:

1:35 PM PT -- Sources tell us at 10:30 Monday morning a chaplain was called to Tom's hospital room. We're told the family has a do not resuscitate order on Tom. The singer is not expected to live throughout the day, but he's still clinging to life. A report that the LAPD confirmed the singer's death is inaccurate -- the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. handled the emergency.

I know what you mean - when it rains, it pours. One thing after another.

Am I a bad person if my mind immediately goes to that classic Python Holy Grail bit...?

Older bros played a lot of Damn the Torpedoes when it was new and I was just 7 or 8. The very cool Mad Max-esque You Got Lucky video got a lot of MTV airplay just a few years later. Add to the fact that Petty's hometown is about an hour's drive from mine (which means radio played him all the time--good) and you get Tom Petty and Heartbreakers being a constant for me growing up. He's had an impact. And I'm grateful. :rose:

You will be missed Mr. Tom Petty. Thank you for the music. I'm glad I got to see you in concert earlier this year. :rose: (And if he by chance survives, he needs to read everybody's awesome comments on here). Edited by Leanne

I am in tears. I have been playing him non stop lately and was really looking forward to seeing him live one day.

I am devastated.

Of course not. It's iconic.

I love the man, but I wouldn't want him to survive anymore than Carrie Fisher. No one knows how long he was without oxygen. Anything under two minutes isn't bad, but anything more than that - forget it. Like I said, you'd rather Tom passes than survives having to be washed, wiped and fed.

This has to be one of the strangest things.

Here's the latest: https://www.usatoday...-newstopstories

How the hell does that happen?

News services rushing to get the story first. They're forgetting about accuracy.

Geez wish they could get their facts straight. I hope he can recover if it isnt too far gone. Best wishes to him, friends and family whatever the case.

If the media can make a mistake about his death or non death then they can make a mistake about being taken off life support and the length of time without oxygen.

Who knows what the facts are now?
