Another guitar synth shot.

Here's a good shot of the controls

If you enlarge this, you can see what each one does ... Now, whether or not this thing tracked well or was any good, I have no idea .. I love to try one though

That is f*cked!

How does a portamento switch work on a guitar - is it manipulated through a pedal? Wouldn't a whammy-bar deliver the same goods?

Maybe it's just random portamento; hit the switch and off you go! That would be most excellent.

I bet he ordered them through Sears. They look Sears-y.

Here's a guy demonstrating a GR500 .. The thing is prehistoric, but regardless, some of the sounds are actually pretty cool

Now I want one

The one my guitarist buddy had didn't track for shit. It was great for "I have memory and awareness" type chord swells, but not so good for single string stuff. We used to do Rebel Yell and he was tasked with doing the bouncy little keyboard part on his synth guitar...it was always a train wreck.

Catalog for Dalziel Equiptment, then owned by Neil's father Glen Peart .. Neil is listed as Parts Manager

This was 1973, just after Neil returned home from his eighteen month stint as an aspiring drummer in London, England ..

Bachelor Neil, with his purple MG, is our international Playboy ( but don't tell his girlfriend )
