Really giving caress of steel some hammer right now, is like classical rush in a universe of its own Great album when you just want something soothing & relaxing interspersed with occasional extreme vigor

So great that it gets in my top 4 that could possibly be no.1, alongside HYF, Permanent Waves & Vapor Trails

I adore your top four.

That's a nice broad range of RUSH's work. Substitute Presto for HYF and those could be my desert island four.

Ya know, I ended up tossing around Moving Pictures and Presto.

Both amazing albums but in the end I had to go with Presto. Moving Pictures is outstanding, and that was some of the first Rush I'd ever heard, but Presto happens to have more songs, which I all love. It's not like I dislike MP, but there is more on Presto. The tone of the album is something I wish rush had brought back into there sound. It's so ambient and filled with reverb, creating the effect of emotion.

:goodone:

I really like PRESTO as well.

I can't find a disappointing track on it!

You're not looking very hard then. ;)

I think it's ironic that there are 11 songs on Presto because since none of them deserved to be turned up past 3.

These threads are great because you see the random fans that love a rather forgotten album in Rush's massive catalog like Presto. It's an album with some great songs that deserved better from a production standpoint. I would love to be able to listen to this album, but with the exact crisp sound that Moving Pictures had. Instead, Rupert Hine made it sound like a pop album. If I were Alex, I never would have let it be released that way because the way the guitar sounds on this one is just awful, and Alex did play some cool stuff on it
