Not to be the turd in the punch bowl but is everyone forgetting that Geddy can't sing well anymore and his voice is shot?

I think you're forgetting that your opinion on Geddy's voice is just that - an opinion.

Actually you dont need Geoff Downes, Just bring in Carl Palmer.

Screw that. They should get a younger unknown drummer who will bring a youthful energy to the project. Some new blood with serious chops would no doubt help Geddy and Alex to keep their game sharp.

...and maybe they could get a younger bassist, guitarist and singer, just imagine how much energy they'd have then.

Marco Minneman, especially as he has a connection with Alex now!

Hell yes, I would love to see Marco on the stool.

Well presumably this new band wouldn't be doing any Rush material, so hopefully Geddy would write melodies to new songs that he could actually sing.

I was going to thread this but it's really not worth starting a thread over it. I know Geddy has been struggling vocally over the years. I have always looked past that when attending my Rush concerts.

That being said, I put on the "Clockwork Angels" Live on in my car the other day and I couldn't handle Geddy's voice. It was truly dreadful.

I hope they don't write and lyrics for this new fantasy project. Let's hope it's an instrumental band. Ged can focus on his bass, keys, and bass pedals.

They could be called "Peerless" - which describes them well, and also sounds a bit like "Peart-less"...

Well if you don't have a lyricist, why worry about vocals?

anyone else hoping the Lee-Lifeson project is a jazz-blues odyssey?

Worked for these guys.

Yes, but PLEASE not a "flaunt my chops" kind of drummer. Someone with TASTE and chops.

What's Gavin up to these days? He's a drummer most Rush fans could easily accept.

This.

I wish they would do more instrumentals, and not just because his voice isn't what it used to be. That's when they really kick butt. The best part of R40 was the second half with Cygnus, Hemispheres 2112 and Xanadu which have long areas without vocals.

I'm not so certain about the "Lee-Lifeson" name either. Elsewhere I wrote that those not familiar with Rush will be asking, "Which one is Lee Lifeson? And who's the other guy?"

I thought maybe a combo of their real last names: ZivoRib. Is that TOTALLY awesome or what? Well, I suppose it is "Or what".

Maybe WeinOvich? Geddy is into wine now and Alex is Alex. That doesn't make a lot of sense either. I'm also still liking the idea of them going with Rash.

And yes, it would be cool to hear some "My Favorite Headache" songs performed live. Some "Victor" stuff, too.

What will they call this collaboration, Brush? As in whom ever is the drummer will have a brush with greatness? I liked to Mike Portnoy take the seat!

Lifeson, Lee and Portnoy!

The good thing about this is that we'll get to hear some more new Rush-like tunes not to mention songs from their solo albums when they hit the road.

We would also get to see Geddy and Alex in much more intimate venues. They're not filling arenas and amphitheaters with a possible project together.

I agree with you after seeing the set, I was thinking the same thing. 1 new song woild not be enough. I would have to hear their new stuff to make a more precise setlist. Edited by losingit2k
