mirkwood
In a January 2017 interview, Roeser stated: "BÖC has tentative plans to do some recording this year. The band we have is so good it would be a shame not to record." It would be the band's first new music since 2001. In a May 2017 appearance on Castellano's "Band Geek" podcast, Bloom confirmed that there were tentative plans to release a new album in 2018 and that the band was currently considering offers from multiple record labels. Mithrandir
BOC is second only to Rush. Mid tempo Buckethead is tied with BOC.BOC is hit and miss for me. These 4 stand way above the restImaginosTyrannyDebutMirrors The rest of their output contains many songs that I love, but no other albums that I need to own.

Mosher
That 2001 album was terrific, The Old Gods Return is one of my all time favorite BOC tracks. There's no reason it shouldn't be a good album. I can't imagine a bunch of song writers sat around without any ideas for 17 years. Some of those ideas might be perfect for BOC.

custom55
One of those bands where I bought the record based on the album cover. Never heard of them so I bought their 1st LP when it was released in 1972. Great album. http://youtu.be/vOZhVZPDvbI Edited August 23, 2017 by custom55
canadianice
Buck Dharma ( Donald Roeser) never gets enough credit, one of the most under rated guitar players on the planet.

There's no reason it shouldn't be a good album. I can't imagine a bunch of song writers sat around without any ideas for 17 years. Some of those ideas might be perfect for BOC. But for every "Old Gods Return," that album sports an "I Just Like to Be Bad." That said, I've been looking forward to the new album and I remain optimistic!

Heaven Forbid, on the other hand, was a great album. And I'm optimistic as well.
The K Man
Curse of the Hidden Mirror overall was pretty mediocre, but it did have The Old Gods Return, Stone of Love and Dance on Stilts, all of which are stellar tunes. Heaven Forbid is great from start to finish.

In full disclosure I should admit that I am a big fan of BOC, but that I've never heard a perfect BOC album. To my ears there's always a song or two I just don't like. But every album has something that impresses the hell out of me. But's you're right, the last one was far from perfect. But nevertheless they still had what they always had. I'd like some of the polish removed, though. Sometimes they overwork their later songs.

In those days of vinyl, every new album we liked the look of was straight on to the stereo in the shop .... No such thing as buying a new record in our shop lol!!! Album was going great ... loving it .... then Joan Crawford .... what the hell??? .... wait ... flip it back to the start...play again .... this is mad ..... i think i love it!It has always remained with me as one of my favourite BOC tracks purely for that moment in time.We saw them in Glasgow on their 45th anniversary tour ....... they started to play Joan Crawford .... i welled up.
