The 2017-18 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thread

Recommended Posts

I received an invite to attend a Mini-Camp practice this Wednesday. Another nice perk of being a season ticket holder as we are the only ones invited to attend. I can't believe only a little over 2 months and the "Real" training camp will be here.

Go Bucs! :madra:

I had a great time at mini camp yesterday! I saw a lot of cool stuff and got to meet some players as well. Mike Evans and Jr. Sweezy took the most time to engage with fans as they left the indoors but in fareness a lot of the players were already on the field when I arrived. It was a bit brutal being in the sun & humidity for two hours but I had it good as I was just watching not practicing  I wanted to post some pics but for some reason me electronics are in a rebellious mood. Winston looked good. Fitzpatrick looked good, M. Evans looked good, O J Howard looked good C. Brate looked good, A. Humphreys looked good hell everyone looked good :LMAO: Well I guess that's how underware football is ;) Now on to the several week dry spell til training camp starts in mid/end July. Once the pads go on we will see who's for real or not.

32 days and counting til the 1st day of training camp. I am really surprised at all the love the ole Bucco's have been getting from the mainstream sports media. I heard one report that the Bucs were picked as a high prospect for making an appearance in the Super Bowl! stange daze indeed  Now I am excited about this upcoming season but I think the "Big Dance" is still on the side of wishful thinking especially considering there has not even been one snap yet :LMAO: I think we will be much improved and 10-6 will be the minimum record and I do believe we will make it to at least a wild card playoff game and possibly runner up for division champ. The NFC south is now considered to be one of the strongest divisions in the NFL. There certainly a bunch of talent and it is very easy for any team to be stellar. I realize that my optimism at this time of year is always at a high point but this year really seems that all the pieces are coming together. I was at a gathering with some friends the other day who had all basically given up their season tickets for the sorry assed product the Bucs had been for well I guess since Chuckie was cut lose. Anyhoo the common theme was one of regret on the most part for giving up the seats. As we all knoiw what will happen to ticket prices if we do have an awesome season. Only time will tell!

Season tix should be available for anyone that wants them. Nfc south is a toss up. I wouldn't be surprised to see any team win. Only team I can see a real challenge to compete for title is Carolina due to cam surgery and the unknown there.

Oh yes there is plenty of seats left but what I was referring to is how the $$ is already escalating. For example my 2 seats went up $50 each this season but the only reason it was only a $50 increase is because I have been a season ticket holder for 3 years (technically 2 1/2 as our 1st season was a 1/2 season plan). If I were to buy my seats today I would be shelling out over $125 for each seat for the season. Also there is a new pricing tier for popular teams. For example single game ticket in my section/location for the New England game is almost double what I pay and for teams like DA Bears the increase is only like 20%. So the longer someone waits to jump on the bandwagon (for lack of a better term) for season tickets the more it will cost. If the Bucs do as good as everyone is predicting I will be lucky if the price of my seats do not double next season & lord knows how much more it will be for folks wanting to get season or single game seats. That' s the price of success  Remember the waiting list for season tickets when the the Bucs were contenders ;) . You are absolutely correct the NFC south being a toss up. My hope is ATL will suffer the historical post Super Bowl stinker season. CAR improved themselves with Christian McCaffrey but really didn't do much else where. NO's committee of running backs especially with the addition of Adrian Peterson may be a threat of course Breeze is always a handful but NO only added fresh blood at corner or safety? but there defense is not a strength and one man can't do it all. Not trying to be biased but I feel the Bucs did the best across the board improvements than any other team in the division. However I still think the Bucs didn't do enough to reinforce the Online and that has been a weakness for several seasons. It will be very interesting to see how it all pans out.

alstott was way overated guys, was good running, but could not catch the ball worth shit outta the backfield.

i think TB makrs the playoffs easy if JW does not regress. barring a major injury,i think it is a GB vs NE sb in the frozen tundra but inside the new vikes stadium.

Not sure where the alstott comment is coming from but he wasn't overrated. He caught 305 balls for 2,284 yards with 113 first downs coming from the air. He had 324 first downs from the rush. That's a pretty good ratio from a guy who's primary job was power rushing. He wasn't meant to be a running back even though he was forced to sometimes play that position. He was considered a fullback but you could call him a hybrid. His last year he averaged 35 yards a game receiving. His most important role to me was as a morale changer. When he destroyed other teams players or made them look foolish by dragging several of them he destroyed opponent morale and made the offense feel powerful.

Alstott only had two flaws Number one was blocking, At Perdue The A-Train was a running "full" back. When He was drafted by Sam Wyche the attempt was to convert Mike into blocking full back which scheme in life is to play a lot of blocking for the tail or quarter back. Considering Mikie was groomed as a north/south power "running" full back blocking really never took hold. Coach Dungy also tried to use Mike in too many blocking schemes but eventually used number 40 as he was intended. His second (most frustrating) flaw was he did fumble quite often and of course most of the fumbled came at the very most worst times. Not that any fumble comes at a good time for one. I think your comment about his catching skills is a bit uninformed. He is number 4 in the all time receptions for a Buccaneer 305 receptions for 2284 yards & a 7.5 yard avg. ain't too bad for a "Full Back" Not to mention the excitement of play he brought to his team. Rarely do you see a player consistently literally run over defenders or drag 3,4 or five defenders for chunks of yards into the end zone for a TD. Thus the name A-Train was a fitting title. I wish we had an A-Train type on our team and we just may with TE O J Howard. The Bucs have all but eliminated the "Full Back" position as of late, opting for the illusive double tight end formation. One of my all time favorite Alstott records is the 1st (15 yard!) rushing TD for the 1st Super Bowl Buccaneer TD in the 1st Super bowl appearance of My Bucs which ultimately dominated (after a bit of a shaky start) the Raiders of Oakland. I hope daze like that are in my near future.

I admire your enthusiasm. I really don't follow until 3rd preseason game but my enjoyment has been waning for a few years.

Thank you for your compliment my friend! You are correct in noting my enthusiasm for this upcoming season. The only "curb your enthusiasm" moments is for me is that I am well aware this team is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers! Where all the things that are set in place to be stellar fall to dumb "Buc Luck" I will reinstate the reason I am more excited than I have been in soooo many seasons gone bye is the current direction this squad is going. I really believe this season is the turning point of great things and dare I mention a dynasty.

T-Minus 19 days til the opening of training camp! :yay: On a Bucs nation note a Bucs fan that I usually talk football with who works at the filling station I frequent went out out of his way to let me know he had just brought himself up to speed on what a "BEAST" OJ Howard was. He confessed he didn't know much about the kid other than conversations and of course my glowing reviews :D . Anyhoo he went on to explain that his research went back to OJ's college highlights and what has been recorded as "highlights" from the underware practices. He then said that he was kinda wondering what "all" the buzz was about regarding how Tampa is finally getting some notice from the rest of the league and the sports media world. But now he is (in his words) well acquainted with players like OJ, his excitement levels are also now at full tilt!

T-Minus 8 Daze Til the start of training camp!

Big Score today! I got this official retired flag runners flag today. This was used during Bucs Games during pregame, intermission and of course scoring events (hope to see a bunch of those this season) I am so stoaked as I have been trying to get my hands on one of these gems for some time now to fly on my "Game Day Battle Wagon". I cannot go into detail on social media of how this all transpired but I can say there are some awesome peeps in the Bucs organization! With the start of training camp 8 days away and the 2017-18 season just around the corner my excitement is building at a good clip. If the season started tomorrow it wouldn't be soon enough! Go Bucs!

T-Minus 2 Daze Till the start if the 2017-18 Bucs training camp. The rookies reported yesterday. The Veterans report tomorrow. Things ate getting ready to really start ramping up! I will be there Friday! Also I will be attending the exclusive (for season pass holders only) practice in 08/08 and probably try to catch as many if the Saturday practices as possible. In some roster news,, Jacquies Smith was placed on the Active PUP (physically unable to perform) list. Hopefully he will be ready and good to go before camp ends. PUP is not like IR as players on PUP can be put in at a moments notice and still count as 1 on the 90 man (preseason) roster.

It's here! It's here STraining Camp Day 1 :yay:

Things looked pretty good out there today and you gotta love coaches down to earth assessment "Looks like we had not practiced for about 6 weeks! Too many balls and body's on the ground" There was also some excitement when Gerald McCoy broke threw the line and actually made contact with orange jerseied QB Jamis Winston. Contact with a QB in underware football practice a no no!.Gerald did make a comment regarding the glare he got from Cutter he was expecting to "get called into the principals office. Can't wait till the pads go on!!

Nice. I like how the bucs assess the players unlike the rays. They act like their opening day starter is Clayton Keyshaw every year and they aren't even close.

This is happening too fast

Yes Yes things are moving along at a good clip  I was at camp today and saw a lot of good stuff! It is absolutely amazing how fast O J Howard & Deshawn Jackson are at full speed. Two excellent acquisitions indeed. Defense and O-line really seemed to enjoy getting back to how they earn their $$$. Especially some fine moments of "welcome to the NFL" memories dished out to some rookies today. I am sure many more of those yet to come as the fun of hitting ones own teammate will lose it's luster quickly. The opportunity to hit someone else is only a mere 11 days (+ - an hour or 2) away.

The Premier of HBO's series Hard Knocks starts tonight. I do not have cable any more however I am going to subscribe for the trial month of "HBO GO" so I can watch it via streaming. On another note I had an awsome time at the season ticket holders exclusive practice today. The team seems really fired up and ready to go. A scary moment Gerald McCoy went to the sideline writhing in pain due to a possible forearm/hand injury :o Thankfully he was back in a few series later. I hope all is well with him. Once again OJ Howard was most impressive! What a beast of a specimen. 1st preseason game in 3 days!

Go BUCS!!! :madra:
