Thanks Greyfriar !!! BASK is now on my radar.

Cheers mate.

Ramble Beyond is fing ramblin' beyond!!! Incredible album. So dreamy but yet powerful, it's just brilliant.

I have it on a constant run for the last few days now and it still grows and grows. Best, new American band, I've heard over the last few years.

I love these guys. :hail:

The new Elder album is phenomenal. Next to the new Pallbearer, it puts Mastodon's newest to shame. Another excellent new band I've discovered as of late. Shall go backwards and listen to Lore very shortly. Edited by PolarizeMe

Banger TV did a review of the new Bison (formerly "Bison B.C.") album which was positive and since I got curious with the audio snippets in the review sounding promising and all so I checked it out and I thought it was a pretty good stoner/sludge album that could grow on me with repeated listens:

2017's been a good year for sludge/stoner/doom metal it seems.

Has anyone heard the new egypt yet?

I've listened to them in the past but not recently. I'll add them and their new album to my to-do list.

I'm in a sludgy, stoner, doomish mood.

Not all their albums are in the genre all the time, but the new Boris album fits in the sludgy, stoner, doom metal category but with an added emphasis on drone in the style of Sunn O))) and early Earth. Hope you don't mind the language barrier being that they're Japanese though they've broken it considering they're more well received in American and Europe than in their native country:

I know they love to play roulette as far as which metal subgenre they play in with every album which can be (and actually is) a detriment to the band cause they've put out so much albums in their 25 years of being a band of varying degrees of quality (this is their 24th non-collaborative studio album and 37th album overall), but as a long time fan and I say that very loosely, I'm honestly in awe and amazed at how much I love this album already and it's not even out officially till Friday (it's streaming on NPR though which is how I've listened to it early). I've never heard them sound this invigorated as a band since the seminal Pink album over a decade ago.

I'll say it again, 2017's the year of sludge/stoner/doom metal. I might have to make a separate list for sludge/stoner/doom metal for my AOTY list cause it occupies so much of the best rock/metal music I've heard this year. :haz:
