Fordgalaxy
I sure hope you know what you're doing. Lots of people are sickened or worse every year eating what they think are non-poisonous mushrooms and there are a lot of them.
Dread Pirate Robert
I sure hope you know what you're doing. Me too ;) Chanterelles are actually easy to identify, being a very distinctive mushroom in this area where I live. That is the northwestern part of SC, at the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains. They are common here this time of year. I am well aware of the dangers of eating the wrong kind of mushroom. That is why I stick to ones I can be sure about, like Chanterelles.
Ancient Ways
Sometimes you accidentally find the "right" kind of mushroom and wake up 18 hours later in a strange place with strangers.

Most areas depending on where you live have books on them. Or do some internet research.

Yep, But it can be dangerous if you are on private property. There was a show on it a couple of years ago. Can't remember the name though.

The pic is of them after being freshly picked.Shortly after I took that pic, I I cooked them in a pan in butter on the stove top. Yummy. I then went in a walk in the woods and found a lot more, which are now in my fridge Edited June 26, 2017 by Dread Pirate Robert

Dread Pirate Robert
Last night I made this dish, shown here in the cooking process, not done yet. Just chanterelles and jalapeno slices in coconut oil. The result was fantastic yummy: http://i.imgur.com/I2mnd7a.jpg
