What Music have you Bought recently?

Yesterday I decided to update my Rolling Stones collection. The only albums I didn't buy were

'Steel Wheels' and all the LIVE albums except "Get yer YA YAs out." I've had the complete catalogs of pretty much 3/4 of the groups I'm interested in, and thought is was about time I gave the Stones their due. I Hated them in the '60s due to the 'feud' between them and The BEATLES...[and I still recognized their undeniable talent to write GREAT songs...and with my proclivities of falling in LOVE with 'DEEP' cuts, I hadda bring the Stones into the group. I played the first british release yesterday, and now I LOVE that album! The Stones were very like The Beatles in that they did a LOT of popular tunes by other groups in their beginning recordings...

'Carol', 'I just want to make Love to you', 'Route 66', 'I'm a King bee', 'Walking The Dog'...etc.

So WELCOME TO THE Rolling Stones!

I took a chance on Patti Smith's music, finally. I knew her cover of Because the Night all the way back to 1978, and loved the song Dancing Barefoot but it occurred to me that I hadn't heard any of ther albums!

I Found used copies of Horses and Wave last night for less than $2 and $3 apiece..

Also found a really cool Westwood One "Superstars In Concert" 2 CD set for $10 that had live unreleased Traffic from 1970 and Steve Winwood from 1987.

Speaking of the Stones, I also found Disc 2 of the SINGLES COLLECTION-LONDON YEARS for $5. I'd have bought the other 2 discs if they were there (and eventually I will) but I'm kinda glad Disc 2 was the first one I found, as it has one of my very favorite B-sides on it - 'Child of the Moon'.

Finally... to capitalize on my recent U2 binge and seeing them live again... I found both the 2007 Deluxe edition of the Joshua Tree at a very reasonable price ($30), and bought the new 30th Anniv 2 CD set as well,. to get the fantastic live show from Madison Square Garden 1987.

Technically , this stuff was all FREE cause I traded in a bunch of CDs and had credit!

I'll be loading all this stuff on my phone to take with me to listen while I'm on my trip.

Because the Night wasn't a cover. Springsteen gave it to Her, and his version finally came out in 2010.

I've been buying vinyl in the past year and a half. I got these at a local record place near me with a 2 for $5 sidewalk sale:

Eagles - One Of These Nights

Jackson Browne - Lawyers In Love

Dawes - Stories Don't End

Sir Elton John - Emptying Sky

I recently got Louder Than Love by Soundgarden and Rebel Yell by Billy Idol on discogs.com thru the mail.

Last weekend, finally picked up the out-of-print 60s Soul box from RHINO. Came out 20 years ago and has been out of print for a while.

6 CDs of great soul music.

Retailed for $60 but I found a copy for $20.

It's the one that is packaged in what looks like an old box of 45 RPM singles :)
