The 2017-18 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thread

Recommended Posts

Here's yet another place where all the fans (avid- fairweather) and supporters of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers can post their thoughts, cheers and jeers. All NFL fans are welcome but if you come here to bash the Bucs believe you me it is nothing we Bucs fans have not heard over the years and maybe we have some to add if you missed something. With the recent results of an awesome draft & fee agency acquisitions, we as Bucs fans have a lot to be excited about this season and it could not start soon enough!

Go Bucs!

Well we did get a pretty good defensive back in Justin Evans. I am very happy with the focus on the type of players we went after this draft. Big and Fast.

The Cherry on top was getting O J Howard. I had been pining for him for many many moons. With all the polling's of the "mock" draft speculation I had all but written him off as being long gone by pick 19. Also most of the in house speculation had the Bucs more apt to trade down for depth rather than trading up for 1 "booster shot". the two longest moments in the entire draft (excluding waiting for it to start) was the Titans pick at 18. I was literally sweating cold bullets and biting me finger nails. Then from the moment the "Pick Is In" flashed on the screen during our time on the clock until the announcement that my dreams had come true. A very many of my friends were bent on us taking RB Dalvin Cook even if we had to trade up to acquire him. IMHO this draft was full of quality RB's to have to trade up for one especially one who already has had 3 shoulder surgey's before the 1st NFL snap. My :LMAO: moment was the Move Duh Bears made by trading up to get an unproven QB Mitchell Trubisky after the acquired Glennon for almost $40 million. I am also concerned we will be facing Christian Mccaffery twice a year.

Pleased to hear some good reports coming out of the 1st rookie training camp. OJ Howard donning number 80 had more good than bad. With that said underwear football is where everyone looks good :) Looking forward to great things from #80. Also very weird regarding D. Martins recent car wreck. Douggie aka Druggie excells in "need to prove myself" seasons. This upcoming season is definitely one of those.

Good reports coming out of the 1st rookie mini training camp. Things were a little rough the 1st day or two but there's a huge learning curve in a short amount of time for these studs lol...

Another interesting deal in signing veteran QB Ryan Fitzpatrick as a backup for Winston. I can appreciate the logic as in depth as we had no backup QB that has took a single starting snap in the NFL. Fitzpatrick has been in the league for several years and has shown some talent as "the next man up" but seems he faltered when he was the starter. I say it's a solid move.

GREAT NEWS! O J Howard signed his rookie contract today! A class move by a 1st class individule. On another note, official team activity workouts start tomorrow. Man I wish the seasone was starting tomorrow :D I am more excited and optimistic about this upcoming season than I have been in many, many seasons gone by.

I hear rumblings of Roborto Aguayo struggling again and Nick Folk who was brought in to compete for a kicking job is knocking everything through the uprights. It is still early to pass judgment but I would say it is concerning that Aguayo is regressing under intersquad competition. Only time will tell but trading up for Aguayo may prove to be a bone head move of Jason Licht.

For it to not have been a bonehead move he would need to be in the top kickers all time for accuracy and longevity. It was destined to be a disaster. Even as good as janikowski has been its translated to exactly zero super bowl victories.

Today another encouraging sign regarding the class of the Bucs organization. WR Chris Godwin signed his rookie contract today. This event concludes the rookie signings. I remember daze gone bye that it was most assured there would be some disputes with signing rookies even 1st rounders. On another note Godwin was a performance stand out during the recent OTA's. The Bucs also signed two DE's for D-line competition (& possible depth) adding 6'4" 285lb Sterling Bailey & 6'4" 285lb Travis Barnes. Both have size and strength to bolster the interior line. Ahhh just a few more months :yay:

I'm currently watching a replay of super bowl 37. Bucs kicking some raider ass. Just had the punt block go for the TD. Next up is the rice TD then all hell will break loose for the bucs.

That is too funny my son & I were just talking about watching that video again. Man those were the daze ;) My dear friend who was a licenced pirotech made me some awesomm very loud boom booms that I set off every time the Bucs scored. I will never forget waking my wife up at almost 3am to the sound of honking horns fireworks and people screaming out their car windows at the top of thier lungs what a party. The next great memory is when my boss called me at 6:30 am and said everyone gets off at noon to go to the parade :yay:

I hope to relive that experience soon!

Yeah I miss those days. I used to go to a friend's parents house where about 20-30 of us would meet up on game days to watch them. A lot of parties and good times. A death in the family and some divorces and marriages spelled the end of all that unfortunately. It interesting to look back and see how many new players were on the team that season compared to the belief that Dungy built the team and gruden just showed up and won.

desean jackson is the best player the bucs signed in the off season.he gets a step ahead of you,he is gone.gonna be hard for anybody in the afc to beat the pats, they just got better with good free agent signings, not a bucs fan,if they can limit injuries, they got a good shot at winning the divison from the falcons.

Ive followed desean throughout his pro career. Can't think of a more electrifying player in the same time period. Big pick up for sure.

Yes I agree! I am very pleased with Deseans acquisition. Now we truely have a deep double threat at wide out and with the reports of how rookie Chris Godwin is progressing in the 1st OTA's we might have 3 legit threats. Let's not forget or major improvement at TE! Lots and lots of weapons for Winston!

Go Bucs! :madra:

Yep and some of contributiors to that got us to glory were actually picks of Sam Weich. 1st player that comes to mind was my all time favorite. Mike Alstott aka the "A Train"
