So who is it?

Who is your favorite "grunge" vocalist of all time?

Sorry Scott Weiland does NOT count!!!!!!! LOL!

RIP TOO! JESUS FUCKKING CHRIST POSE! THEY ARE ALL DEAD!

I love L7.

I love TAD.

I love Screaming Trees.

I am a lot older than most of you on here and even as a Rush Freak and a Forum Tit who is hated I actually do have an open mind.

I am very obsessive as you know. Back in the late 80's and early 90's I embraced RAP and GRUNGE.

I was tired of the same old bands.

So I dug deep into the "Grunge" soul. I was still into RUN DMC but fell in love with NWA and EAZY E of course!

I was into that naughty rap scene but I loved and was obsessed with SUB POP. I love MUDHONEY!

So many great bands. You guys and gals may rip the grunge scene for being depressing, dark and just heavy chords and cliche riffs.

I loved it.

Well back then.

I had a hard time listening to all of "Badmotorfinger" today. An album I used to play over and over and over again back in the day.

So glad I was able to see all of these "grunge" bands back when they were young and fresh.

I saw the Pearl Jam "Ten" Tour at The Warfield. Rage Against The Machine opened. Zach handed me a cassette demo after they opened. Incredible.

I saw L7, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and The Red Hot Chili Peppers on New Year's Eve one night at the Cow Palace.

It was off the fukkin charts man.

Nirvana was The Sixties Who that night. Smashing and mashing their instruments. Grohl kicking and breaking his drum set into pieces .

Incredible memories.

I saw Soundgarden a few times as well on the "Badmotorfinger" Tour like I already stated.

EPIC SHIT!

Sucks that it's all coming to an end.

So on that note, who had the greatest grunge pipes in that sweet sublime Mother Fuckking Love Bone Scene?

I'm only going to poll the top four.

If you want to add your favorite then please do so.......

I'm sure some of you cunning stunt stunning runts have something intellectual to say.

BRING IT!

Love,

SOFT MOIST VAGINA

I am torn between Wood and Cornell.

I can't be biased sadly because of the passing of Chris.

I was so into Mother Love Bone way before Pearl Jam was even a reality.

I have to go with Wood first.

Cornell second.

"Apple" is an Epic Masterpiece.

I am so sorry if most of you don't get it.

Take a bite....

None of these guys Earl, NONE! Don't you understand me??? :bang bang:

HAHAHA! Of course I get you buddy!

I love Andrew Wood man.

I get the rest.

Chris was always a notch above the others though. After Andrew. JMO

The most overrated singer from the Emerald City is Lucky Lottery Winner Eddie Fuckking Overrated Vedder.

After "TEN" which is a masterpiece, the band is shite.

Yep!

I used "overrated" twice.

The first two Alice In Chains albums are excellent. After that? Shit.

The "grunge" scene did what it needed to do. It killed cheesy shit hair metal bands after hair metal died years before anyway.

Grunge served a purpose on this planet for a brief time and hell, call me a hypocrite but I bit that flannel baited hook.

Pun infuckingtended.

I used to think that Eddie Vedder was a woman. I think I confused him with Suzanne Vega, Eddie Vega, or Eddie Vegan?

Layne. Something in his voice, mix of soul pain  . And Jerry is a great guitarist.

I agree. His harmonies with Cantrell are amazing. It's pretty cool that they currently enjoyed a similar vibe

Saw AIC live twice in the 90's on two consecutive nights.

Support act was Suicidal Tendencies, who were very good.

But Alice in Chains was phenomenal.

As for greatest 'grunge pipes'? Layne (RIP) was my favourite with an honorable mention to Cornell (RIP).

However the grunge singer with the most charisma was Andrew Wood (RIP)

It's a toss up between Andrew Wood and Eddie Vedder for me.

1. Andrew Wood

= Eddie Vedder

3. Layne Staley

4. Chris Cornell

5. Kurt Cobain (don't get me wrong I LOVE his voice and his music but...the other guys...they are way off the charts and Kurt just perfectly suited the style he made his own).

I love Apple, and Mother Love Bone, but Wood was an abysmal singer and song writer, and the world of music (sad to say) probably greatly benefited from his passing. It led to Temple of the Dog, an expanded Cornell repertoire, Pearl Jam, Mad Season, maybe even Audioslave (if Cornell is to be believed).

Wood was a wannabe hair metal frontman who didn't have the pipes to pull it off.

Cornell, by miles. Unbelievable range. When Cochise was released, the very first time I heard it, I thought it might be new music from AC/DC.

From your list the rest would go:

Vedder

Cobain

Staley

Wood, although the distance between 2, 3 and 4 is small, between 4 and 5 enormous.

Weiland would come after Cornell. And I disagree, Earl, that he doesn't count. Core and Purple are amazing grunge albums. Tiny Music might be a little bit of a glam album, though. I love it, but it is different from the others.
