My top three are Animate, Leave That Thing Alone, and Cold Fire.

Nobody's Hero and Between Sun and Moon are the weakest tracks. I spared Everyday Glory in my voting, but I'm not a huge fan of that one either.

Strongest: Cut To the Chase, Alien Shore, Between the Sun and Moon.

Weakest: Everyday Glory, The Speed of Love.

I agree completely on those! EG and SoL are cringe-worthy.

Between the Sun and Moon is METAL mate! :haz: And you're scared of it! Now get back under the bed where you're safe! :nya nya:

I know Leave That Thing Alone is popular, but to me it's always sounded like a nothing instrumental, the epitome of filler. Especially when you compare it to the great instrumentals that preceded it like La Villa and YYZ.

I really like Between the Sun and Moon, although I think "Ahh yes to yes to ahh ahh to yes" is just a really weird lyric http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/confused/confused0006.gif

It's anti-metal.

That's when Geddy took a wank break.

All songs on this album is strong ones, except for The Speed Of Love (Probably Neil´s worst lyrics) and Leave That Thing Alone (A bit boring in my opinion).

Top 3 : Animate, Cut to the Chase, Double Agent

Weakest : Between Sun & Moon , although I don't find any songs weak. Counterparts is one of my favorite Rush albums, top 5 for sure!

Best - Animate (studio over live for sure), Cut To The Chase, Between the Sun & Moon.

Weakest - Speed, Leave That Thing Alone (I just prefer every other Rush instrumental, Stick It Out (ok, but...,"don't swallow da poi-suuuun" etc kinda grates).

The only difference in all that for me would be to substitute Between the Sun & Moon with Animate. And even then, BS&M would be my #4 tune on Counterparts.

SoL is in my top 5 of Worst Rush tunes, probably top 3.

EG sounds like it's trying to be part of a crappy soundtrack for a sappy TV movie...I'm imagining at the final scene or end credits. In this sense, I can see why Rush chose to put it at the end of the album. It just sounds like that's where it should be.

The only songs on this album I like are Animate, Leave That Thing Alone and Between Sun and Moon. Everyday Glory is okay but I pretty much loathe the rest.

What about Cut To the Chase?? It's as metal as osmium! And it has an amazing Eric Johnesque ALEX guitar solo!

Leave 'Stick it out' off Counterparts and I'd give the album 9/10 as a whole.

I love pretty much every song on the album.

And the sound/engineering is drool-worthy.

if any of you noticed, Everyday Glory is noticeably louder..especially the bass guitar....then the rest of the album. The intro cranks out of the speakers and smacks you in the face right away. A fellow Rush fan told me that they recorded that song differently then the rest on analog tape instead of digital format thus the sonic change.

I've always liked this song. But it does seem tacked on since, aside from the sonic mix differences I pointed out, lyrically it doesn't seem to go with the rest of the album.

It's the bonus track that you craved but never knew you had all along... :smoke:

top 3: animate, cttc, double agent

bottom 3: everyday gory, speed of thud, cold tired

leave my thing alone is probably one of their worst instrumentals. I follow the song's advice and never play it. The only saving grace was that it didn't have Neil's love/relationship advice as lyrics.

obviously an album that starts out strong and ends poorly.

much much too poppy sounding...like they were making an effort at creating a 'radio friendly' hit.
