EagleMoon
I refuse to believe it's over until they don't tour. And how long are you planning on waiting? Until one of them dies, or is that just replacement time?I'm willing to wait 5 years before giving up hope and accepting that they are truly finished with touring. Me now: NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER!!! Me in 5 years: ......fiiiiine. I agree with what Cygnify said in another thread, Neil has nothing left to prove. He's perfectly happy to retire. The other two still seem to want to play music and I can see them doing something together. But as far as Rush touring again? I would see the chances as being close to nil. It takes them all months and months to get ready to tour and I just can't see Neil in particular wanting to do that anymore.Oh, I'm not saying he hasn't served his time. Nor that he doesn't deserve to retire. I'm just saying I'm not giving up hope that they may decide to tour again, whether that includes Neil or not. Give it 5 years...a good long break. See how bored they get. ;) I don't think it's going to matter how bored they get. I doubt dragging their 70 year old butts out onto the stage is going to hold much appeal.

TexMike
Neil just seems to be saying to all of them "I won't get pressured into another tour so, as of right now, don't even ask". Will he still feel that way after three or four years, who can say? It's possible that Neil's simply a little miffed that Geddy and Alex aren't coming out and saying "You know what, Neil's right, we're finished". Just that small hope that the other two are leaving out there may put unwanted pressure on him.I have a feeling you may be spot on with this assessment. There DOES seem to be a weird, almost Poker-like game going on now between Neil and Geddy/Alex. Like each side is sort of waiting out the other. Neil has been hoping (and expecting) that Ged or Al will make the official statement that RUSH is over; Ged and Al aren't ready to do that and knowing Neil like they do, still think they can get him to agree to more music and/or shows *eventually* after enough time passes. Question is how much longer do they think THEY have to sit around and wait? I still say they should go make a new mostly instrumental, 'jammy' type album that sounds like vintage Rush (i.e., pre synths and over production), but is called by another name. Maybe Neil observing from the sidelines might start to think 'Hey, I MISS playing with those guys'. Either way, Al and Ged should really start moving on with a new project IF they're not done. This doc is feeling to me like a device to just buy more time (which as we know, does not truly stand still). Justus_2112
I imagine something left in terms of live performances. From what I've heard in interviews with the band and their fans is that R40 wasn't as satisfying as I should have been. I think they still may do something, but I feel like it will not be as big as their usual tours. I think they may do one last, North American "Farewell Tour", and maybe release one or two albums after that. They certainly don't have much left in them, but they do have a history of deviating from the norm. (Pun partially intended). I don't think it's over, and I certainly hope that it isn't. maxpower
I am very positive that Rush will play live in the future. Many bands have had ''farewell tours'' and ''retired'' but then came back to stage. Maybe shorter sets and gigs with opening acts. Have to hope for the best because i'm still dissapointed that they skipped Europe on the R40 tour. By far the best setlist in the last 10 years.

JohnnyBlaze
I don't care about all the hate I get, but the man who made Rush broke Rush. You often state your posts with "I don't care about..." as if to brace yourself for any possible negativity to come. When you were little were you one of those kids that'd swat the Monopoly board or ask for a "do over" if you landed on a hotel-filled Boardwalk? You were weren't you? apetersvt
I have my fingers crossed that Ged and Alex getting together for the Yes hall-of-fame induction will be a catalyst for them to want to do something together (if they haven't already)
upstateNYfan
A couple things: it's wonderful to see Geddy out and about pursuing his passions. I don't know, but to me it's curious he's shopping with his bass tech. Does Scully live there and they were just hanging out? Who knows... But it seems interesting regardless. I don't think there's any doubt Geddy and Alex want to play. At least they did last fall. The demand would be HUGE overseas, and they could play probably a dozen or more dates in the US/Canada too. Neil is the wild card. But after reading his book and seeing TSS, I would be shocked if he ever plays live again. I'd love to be wrong. There's also no hints on Twitter either. So I'd say Geddy will play at the induction ceremony or will just make a solo record. Edited March 20, 2017 by upstateNYfan
