TRF March Madness 2017 Bracket Group!

We did this last year and it turned out to be a lot of fun! I have created a bracket group on ESPN for the 2017 NCAA men's basketball tournament. If you've never done it before, it's simple. If you're a March Madness veteran, welcome back!

This is entirely free and just for fun. No gambling whatsoever. The only purpose of this is to laugh at your fellow TRFers as their teams get upset by some team they never paid any mind to :fury:

What to do:

1. Go here: http://games.espn.co...groupID=1607740

2. To play, you need to sign in. If you don't have an account, you can either sign in through ESPN or through your Facebook account if you are willing, at the top right of the webpage. Follow the instructions.

3. Once the tournament bracket drops, start making your brackets! For this group, you can have a maximum of 2. We did this last year and it went very well.

4. You can join the group once you've created a bracket. You'll need to enter the password.

Password: 2112

Then you're good to go!

How do you fill out your bracket?

That's up to you. You can research the matchups as much as you want, or not at all. As the games go on, depending on how well you picked the games, you get points!

The purpose of having a group for everyone to join is to compete against each other and whoever has the most points wins!

Maximum 2 brackets per person. Any more than that would be too many and too easy for people to escape.

If for some reason when you sign up and join the group under a different username, either PM me or post in the thread and I'll display your username alongside your TRF username.

In addition, there's also an app for this on Android and iOS. Install ESPN Tournament Challenge if you wanna check it on your phone.

Let me know if you run across any problems, and of course, keep us updated on your brackets so we can post the scores in TRF as well.

Let the Madness begin!

Haven't really been paying all that much attention this year, but paying attention has never helped me in the past! Thanks for setting this up, BC!

My favorite time of year! The drama is already unfolding as, by virtue of a stellar ACC Tourney performance, Duke is in position to move from a 3 seed to a possible 1 seed...with an 8-loss season!

How is the No. 5 seed in the ACC tourney in the mix to for a No. 1 seed with one-loss Gonzaga and three-loss Villanova? Should it play out this way, the Blue Devils would have the most losses (eight) of any No. 1 seed in tournament history. The most previously was seven by Illinois in 2001, Michigan State in 2000 and 2012 and Virginia last season.

...the Blue Devils (27-8,11-7) are suddenly in the mix for a No. 1 following an impressive ACC tournament title run that included wins against Clemson, Louisville, North Carolina and finally Notre Dame.

Sorry, Tarheel fans.

My beloved Eastern Eagles just missed punching their ticket to the Big Dance, but I still have a couple of dogs in the hunt...and one cat.

The local university. They made school history back in 2004 by taking out Gonzaga to advance to the Sweet Sixteen". That was the first of a four-year tournament run by the Pack, fueled in part by center Nick Fazekas, who was dating our babysitter at the time.

I was born in Spokane, and my dad went to Gonzaga Prep, so I have to give Gonzaga some love. It's good to see them back in top form and as a likely number 1 seed.

I've been an Arizona fan since my high school coaching days. A guy I coached with played for Lute Olsen at Long Beach State, and one year we went down to Tucson to check out the Wildcats practice and hang with Lute. That was the Mike Bibby team. One of my great coaching memories is having burgers at Lute's house and him showing us video of his NCAA title run. What a great guy! Hopefully Zona can get some love from the Committee with a one-seed. At only four losses vs. Duke's eight, it seems possible.

Who y'all rootin' for?

Iowa State won their 3rd Big 12 tournament title in the last 4 years, and locked down a #5 seed! And we're in the same division as Kansas, with a chance to meet again in the sweet 16 in KC. If this happens I am at least going to be downtown soaking it all in as I pray for Bill Self and the Jagoffs (Jayhawks) to be slaughtered by Iowa State's offense.

I am of course rooting for the Cyclones all the way, but I will be watching Notre Dame, the Zags, and the rest of the Big 12.

The Big 12 always show up in large numbers for the tournament (we know how to f***ing play basketball). This year we've got the usual suspects (Kansas, ISU, and Baylor) and West Virginia is back again. Also bringing up the rear are Oklahoma State and Kansas State snuck into the First Four.

WV will fall because they play dirty and the Big 12 refs let them get away with it. They'll get called on every foul in the big dance and it won't look pretty.

If Kansas doesn't choke early they are definitely in danger of losing to Iowa State if both teams make it that far. When Kansas plays ISU away from Allen Fieldhouse it's always a very close game, and we even beat Kansas at home this year, which is the equivalent of playing the Seahawks in Seattle.

Unless Baylor gets upset like last year, they are a very scary team as well. I'm expecting some awesome stuff from the Big 12 in this year's tournament. Just don't let Kansas win.

Goose, Nevada is playing ISU in the first go. Time to die :fury:

Im a Virginia Tech grad (hence the vt in my username) and thus will happily be rooting for the Hokies in their first trip to the dance in about 10 years. Tough first round vs Wisconsin and if we manage a W, we get Villanova in round 2.

I put in two brackets. Of course I had to pick one with Virginia Tech winning (going with my heart). The other I picked with my brain. Maybe I should submit a third with my heart and mind united in a single perfect sphere.

Sorry, Tarheel fans.

No such luck. The media darlings that are the Dookies didn't deserve even the 2nd seed and Grayson Allen should have been kicked off the team for multiple tripping incidents. But no, he sat out one freakin' game. Lost a lot of respect for Coach K but as most of us know, it's win at all costs, even at Duke.

I set up a group for my wife's family. I didn't put a limit on brackets cuz I figured no one would bother to do more than 2. Within 10 minutes of the invite my nephew had 25 entries.

My Junior year at UCONN in '90 we were a 1 seed and played Duke in the Regional Final. I was in the pep band so I was at the game. We got beat at the buzzer by a Christian Laettner jump shot. No one ever talks about it because 2 years later he did the same thing against Kentucky. They also beat us the next year in the Sweet 16 round, so my hatred of Duke is eternal. Even though we beat them for the championship in '99, and again in '04 in the semi-final before our 2nd championship.
