Is Peart still revered among young Drummers?

RUSHEAD666 GO BOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!

:P

I agree that his ability to craft some great lyrics (note some, *not* all) on top of playing precise, complex, and sometimes emotive drumming puts him in the lead among his contemporaries.

Will people still be talking about Peart or Rush in 300 years? In the same way we resonate with artists (classical) from the 18th century? Hard to say, depends on what information survives the time. We're been lucky the past 500 years to have so many of our cultural treasures survive.

Not sure how good they are for lyric writing.

Which is a larger part of what's wrong with music today.

.. and post 1985 Rush

I'm not against using electronic percussion if it is an accompaniment to an acoustic set. But just programmable drum machines and no one actually playing any instruments is my point.

Uh oh.

My first keyboard ever, a small white casio PT-10 I think, used to make this EXACT same beat lol.

A young guy, 20 years old, just started at our office. Saw some drums in his car a struck up a conversation with him about drummers. When I asked about Neil his response was "he's alright".......So I would say no.

I bet he can't play a single Rush song (he may only even have heard Tom Sawyer), but can play the last three Disturbed albums from beginning to end. Maybe in time he'll get turned on to Rush. Any serious drummer who's heard Rush would never say "alright". :P

It took me a long time to acknowledge what a good player Angus Young is simply because I didn't like AC/DC for a long time. Same went for any number of country players. It wasn't until I got good enough on guitar to hear what constitutes good chops regardless of whether or not I liked the actual music played on the instrument that I finally was able to "hear" talent in players who played music I personally didn't dig.
