Is it true that their next album is going to be titled "Jesus f***ing Christ No!"?

A good title would be "Let´s hint at retirement so that our fans buy expensive tour tickets, but leave enough room for interpretation to do the same thing again three years from now".

Then again, it could be used by any band whose members are in their mid 60´s.

I don't hold that stuff against them, so they said they were retiring but then didn't, to me that's a good thing.

Given the great quality of Rob Halford singing during last tour and of the music of the last album, it would be a crime not having them around for a while again.

And we have just suffered the retirememt of another bunch of Birmingham Metal Legends to bear another similar loss.

Well, one of them did retire. Just not the whole band.

That's applicable to both bands still. Only Tony & KK have retired

Has geezer said he still wants to work? I know ozzy did

His status is still unknown. Bill Ward is in another band I believe

Well Tony hasn't retired either, he's been lining up a reunion with Tony Martin. It's only the band Black Sabbath that's retired.

Tony isn't retiring from music; he just can't handle world tours anymore. He just composed a choral piece that received a lot of praise and media attention and he's hopefully got other projects in the pipeline. I remember he expressed interest in doing a film score at one point.

I always wished he'd do an all instrumental solo album that showcased all his influences and abilities: metal riffs, blues jams, jazz pieces, acoustic solos, etc. all on one record with a tight rhythm section (ideally Butler and Ward).

Anyway, that's off topic. This is the Priest thread. ;)

JUDAS PRIEST Taps Producers TOM ALLOM, ANDY SNEAP For New Album

British heavy metal legends JUDAS PRIEST have entered the studio to begin recording their long-awaited follow-up to 2014's "Redeemer Of Souls" album. Helming the sessions for the new disc are the band's longtime producer Tom Allom, acclaimed British knob-twiddler Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, TESTAMENT, ACCEPT) and engineer Mike Exeter (BLACK SABBATH).

Allom produced every PRIEST release from "Unleashed In The East" (1979) through "Ram It Down" (1988), along with several live records since then. As a young engineer, he also worked on the first three BLACK SABBATH records under producer Rodger Bain.

During a January 2017 appearance on "Trunk Nation", Eddie Trunk's show on SiriusXM channel Volume (106), PRIEST singer Rob Halford said about the songwriting process for the band's new disc: "Yeah, everything's coming together great. We're excited to be making new material.

"As you know, whenever we go out to play, we like to say that we're there for not only the reason to see our wonderful fans again but to show off what we're doing. And that's what we're doing right now — we're hard at work, and it's all coming together great."

Halford also confirmed that there is no set-in-stone timetable for the release of PRIEST's next album. "You know, there is no rush," he said. "There is no rush. We feel great. We're very happy, we're very confident, we're very excited. And so, yeah, we're working with our label and with promoters, and there's a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes."

He continued: "When we go out, we want it to be good — we want it to be good, we want it to be well planned, we wanna make sure that everybody's happy."

The first photo of the entire JUDAS PRIEST team and its current production team can be seen above.

Allom produced every PRIEST release from "Unleashed In The East" (1979) through "Ram It Down" (1988), along with several live records since then. As a young engineer, he also worked on the first three BLACK SABBATH records under producer Rodger Bain.

He continued: "When we go out, we want it to be good — we want it to be good, we want it to be well planned, we wanna make sure that everybody's happy."

Halford said last year that JUDAS PRIEST wasn't interested in making "a 'Redeemer Of Souls Part Two'." He explained: "I think it's very important that we make another stand-alone record again, a heavy metal record that's going to have its own legs and just be as different as all of them have been so far."

Not a huge fan of Sneap's production these days. However, Priest has been on a hot streak of terribly produced albums, so any kind of change has to be good at this point. Looking forward to this.

I didn't find the production on the last three albums anywhere near as bad as everyone is saying. In fact they sound really good. I don't know what you listen to music on, an IPOD? but all three sound great on my Technics/KEF/Celestion stereo.

I think it's extremely subjective when it comes to production. Some people can love raw sounds, and some love polished sounds. With Priest, they seem like they can't find their modern sound. Redeemer is such a bad offender for me, too, because it has some great material. But it's so watered down and muted. It has no punch. I think Priest sounds best when they have that punch.

Nostradamus sounded like the band going for 70's production, and it really didn't help an album that was bloated to begin with. I found it sounded bland and just drained my interest after one listen. I think Retribution sounded the best out of the last three albums, but it was such a clean sounding record. It sounded like Judas Priest in a ziploc bag.

I'm a bit fussy on production, admittedly, but I think Priest is writing some really good material. They just lack that punch that their past records have presented. Such a huge amount of energy on those albums. Same thing with Iron Maiden today. Caveman waters down their sound down so badly that it's hard to get a feel for it. Hopefully Priest changing it up a bit will reignite how their albums sound again. But we'll see.

Having Tom Allom involved will definitely help. He has a stellar resume which includes many of Priest's most classic works.

If you were forced at gunpoint by a crazed Maiden fan to throw every single Priest album you own on a bonfire and keep only one, which one would it be?
