Hi Rush fans and distant Rush family!

Hope this ok to post here, don't want to overstep my bounds, we want to invite every Rush fan in the world to this!

On March 31st, my wife and I are throwing a “RUSH NIGHT” at a bar in Long Beach California.

What we’re going to do is play 4, maybe 5 albums, in their entirety, beginning the night with “RUSH”, (released in March, 1974), and progressing thru the evening, in chronological order, ending the night with Clockwork.

We will also be holding a couple fund raising raffles that night too with some cool RUSH items & memorabilia as prizes!

No cover charge to get in, strictly 21 and over only, starts at 9pm, first album on at 9:15 --- “””RUSH””” (making its debut in Long Beach CA. some 43 years after its release!)

Below is the FB invite.

As we get closer to the event it will be more and more updated but there’s info on it now for those that wish to make plans to attend.

Gonna be a lot of fun!

The idea is to bring together a couple hundred die-hard RUSH fans, (like ourselves), listen to albums in full on a nightclub sound system, enjoy beers and drinks, and obviously talk about and enjoy – wholeheartedly – the theme of the night.

Hope many of you can join us!

Three months to go!

That sounds really great and I bet it will be a lot of fun.

What other albums do you plan on doing?

Hi! That we have to figure out still. So much to choose from!

Has to be one from the 80s and one from the 90s, what an awesome dilemma!

Gonna take suggestions as we get closer to the event though.

We might even be able to go for 5 records, looking at the running times, but that might run too late.

Very excited about this!

The bar event is lookin good! Gaining some ground and lots of "What? Really?" going on. Been promoting locally in Long Beach, the main reaction being "at the Que?".

Its a famous dive bar that many many people frequent, different themes almost every night, so a Rush night isn't to far of a stretch for the place. Whats really cool is discovering closeted Rush fans out there in the world.

"I love Rush!" - a term not heard so much in the past but today, I think with new generations of fans and the kids of Rush fan parents, they're seemingly leaving their pools for the sea! ha ha

The other inquiries have been "Are you going to play Tom Sawyer"... gonna save that for last. As sort of an encore.

As a professional DJ, I could stand there all night and just play the hits. Why do that? We're playing entire albums! The albums we don't play this time, we'll save for the next one!

Web site is up too, complete info to hit at the new year!

Wow, just saw this. Great idea. Too bad I live up in the San Fernando Valley. The problem is the drive time will end up being longer than the amount of time the albums will play for. The Blue Line is a bit too creepy after 10PM. But good luck, hope it can become a tradition given you've got lots of albums left. Edited by jjgittes

Fab

Wish I could get a flight over from rainy cold Newcastle upon Tyne in North East England.

But you know? In the 70's our part of the world loved Rush so much and stuck by them when they were judged to be "uncool"

Long Beach? wow!!

I can only dream of that. I have every Rush album on vinyl from the first one up to MP, and I have the treasured first pressing of PW before the Chicago Tribune made them blot out the "Dewey" headline on the paper on the road.

One day I dream of driving my beautiful Jaguar XKR (the car in my avatar) down Highway 1 from SF to LA stopping off at Monterey and Carmel. Blasting my stereo with Eagles and Rush and looking out to your beautiful ocean. That is a bucket list dream of mine.

My Jag is my personal "Red Barchetta"

Hope you have a great time :-) :-)

Love

Stevie :-)

Thanks Goose

Mine is an early 1999 model. Earlier shape than the one you show

I am not a rich man or a poser, I have just always loved Jags

I only paid £8,500 for it in 2009, 10 year old but immaculate and only 52k on the clock. Costs a lot to run and care for (18mpg) but it was my dream.

It was £60k when new and people don't realise how little you can get a second hand luxury car for these days. The reason being that they have high running costs so they depreciate very quickly.

Sometimes I get abuse and hand gestures from others who assume that I am a "flash git" but I think that is their problem.

I wanted to put a notice in the window to say "I only paid the same money for this as a bottom of the range small new Ford, so please don't hate me!"

Ha ha, I am used to the abuse now, it goes with the territory as they say.

Take care friend and keep on listening to the greatest rock band ever!

I love the look of a Jag, and remember my buddy's dad (a Top Gun F-14 pilot) had a beautiful silver one (see below). V-12 engine. But yeah, maintenance is not cheap!

That is a series 3 Jaguar E-Type or XKE as it was known across the pond

Very nice

Had a 5.3 litre V12 engine as opposed to the straight 6 - 4.2 litre of the series 2 and the 3.8 litre flat 6 of the series 1.

My Jaguar XKR was designed to give a new looking version of the XKE in 1996.

Enzo Ferrari owned 2 XKE's from 1961, Coupe and Roadster and said it was the most beautiful car in the world. High praise from a man who has produced some of the most beautiful and desirable car on the planet

He said that the Jaguar XKE only had one problem, it did not have a Ferrari badge on it.

Hi! Yea, kinda far, especially on a Friday. This is the 1st one, hoping that a good cool crowd shows and there is enough enthusiasm to do it again. Ideally we want to move it around to different bars and feature different albums. 1st one here in LB, next one maybe in the valley, then OC. Who knows! And yea, this is merely 5 albums outta 20+ so we have loads of time and material to review and drink to! If you know others that would be into this, please tell em! Word of mouth is getting around and im getting some really great responses about this. Even gonna have commemorative 1" pins for it for all those that show! "RB1" it'll say. See what I did there? Cheers!

Hey! See? Another reason to look forward to RUSH BAR 2! Maybe we'll plan it perfectly and you will be in town at that time and you can drive the coast to our next endeavor! Thats funny you mention how uncool rush fans were. Not much has changed really. We're still weirdos to the others that dont get the band. I like it that way! Im 45 now and have been getting grief from rockers since I was a kid. "Rush nerd!" and "I hate that guys voice" has always been a thing. And thats ok, those guys arent invited! :P Cheers!!

Hi! Damn it! You are the 3rd person to tell me that. Which is so totally cool really! Next one we'll look into a place thats at least 18+ (This one is at a famous dive bar in LB and its free for me to use the joint. If this one works, another will definitely be planned). But please, if you know people in So Cal that would dig this, please pass the info to em!
