Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Wedge Antilles Rogue one? The girl in this new movie seems to be going after the original death star plans does that mean Wedge comes later???

I would really like to see a movie about Han Solo's past. It could be called the Kessel Run.

I can't imagine it as a workable title since it's so specific that only the diehards would know what it means. For example, I knew it was a reference to the Falcon's speed but not the specifics.

Anyway, apparently they've narrowed down the Han actors for the prequel to: Alden Ehrenreich, Jack Reynor, and Taron Egerton. Who? Who? And who?

I'd like to see how they explain how Han & Chewie hooked up. And i wonder if they'll show the circumstances in which Han got Falcon from Lando.

Only the die hards know what it means?

It's a Star Wars movie. We are all die hards!

I'm living proof that we're not all die hards. I really liked the original & Empire, liked Return of the Jedi & Force Awakens, disliked Clones & Sith, and despised Phantom Menace. I've seen all the originals multiple times but I can't name more than a dozen characters outside of the main guys. I couldn't tell you anything about the Kessel Run besides it involves the Falcon going fast and it was Han who did it. I'd say I'm fairly typical. And I can't say that that's "die hard". What's hard to understand about that?

What's hard to understand about the fact that you will totally want to see this movie if it is done well?

That's not my point.

My only point is : nobody outside of die-hards will know what the Kessel Run is AND not everyone who likes Star Wars is a die hard. You probably didn't catch that because you're still fixated on Bowl's mum.

I still think it would be a cool name. Those who don't know what it is will have to see the movie to find out.

Danny Elfman could do the music.

Oh man no not with the Danny Elfman. I got tired with the "boo boo boo bee bee bee" quirky dark musical soundtracks the first thousand times he did them

Had to look up Wedge just to make sure who it was...found that the actor who portrayed him is, coincidentally, Ewan McGregor's maternal uncle. Kind of funny that in the real universe, Wedge is Obi-Wan's uncle.

To answer your question, it didn't mention that he was Rogue one. It just said that he was part of the Rogue squadron in Empire.

Also, the actor was asked to reprise his role for Force Awakens but he didn't want to do it, said it would've "bored" him.

All his soundtrack stuff from Batman onwards sounds the same to me. It's no wonder Tim Burton would continue to work with him for many years as all of his work seems the same to me too.

I had Dead Man's Party when that album was new. But I only liked a few songs off of it. BUT it was better than any of his soundtrack stuff IMHO.

He's done a ton of soundtracks. I sort of agree with you about the Tim Burton stuff, but I don't think that defines him. He even wrote the Simpson's theme.

To this day, the most entertaining concerts I've ever attended were Oingo Boingo concerts. I almost died in a mosh pit at one. :) I love Oingo Boingo and I have ever since Only a lad. Their music is so energetic and fun and I really like the ska influenced horn section. I think Elfman is one of the most talented musicians of our time.

And who doesn't like little girls?

Yeah I know he's done tons. The Simpsons theme and Pee Wee's Big Adventure work for me for whatever reason...but Batman sounded too much like Simpsons to me. Too cartoony for something that was supposed to be a dark movie. At the time I DID like it though.

Not sure Elfman fits in the Star Wars music world. Who knows? Maybe it could work.

I need some kind of chart or bracket to keep up with the timelines and characters

Pretty sure with the extra cash I'd find something to excite me, you know like travel or jumping out of a perfect good air plane.

Anyway, apparently they've narrowed down the Han actors for the prequel to: Alden Ehrenreich, Jack Reynor, and Taron Egerton. Who? Who? And who?

People once said the same thing about Harrison Ford, Mark Hamil, and Carrie Fisher you know :D

A good "who" actor could be a lot better than an A-lister. The character is already well established so it's sometimes hard to bring in an actor who may already be type-cast. I would try to find an relatively unknown actor to play Han.

I would really like to see a movie about Han Solo's past. It could be called the Kessel Run.

I can't imagine it as a workable title since it's so specific that only the diehards would know what it means. For example, I knew it was a reference to the Falcon's speed but not the specifics.

But you're not a die hard and know about the Kessel Run. I don't get it.

Holy crap, that was GOOD! A prequel worthy of the name, finally.

I'm still figuring out how I feel about this movie. It seemed much more of a star wars movie than the prequels in feel and tone, but it also felt too serious and joyless to be a Star Wars movie. It feels more like a real prequel than the prequels did, but it was probably less necessary. It definitely fits the universe and the narrative better than the prequels, but it doesn't expose much that is new or important.

I definitely liked the movie, but I'll watch it again before really deciding on it.

Who knows what I was talking about? That was months ago. I don't even know what I was talking or meant an hour ago. :hail:

I kind of agree about it being too serious and joyless, but in the end I actually liked that it was so dark and bleak. The whole thing felt doom-laden, which I thought was appropriate to the story.

I thought revealing that the weakness in the Death Star's defences was placed there deliberately was pretty important. I also liked seeing the whole story from the viewpoint of the footsoldiers. It felt like Star Wars meets The Dirty Dozen, which I really liked.

It's not perfect by any means. I really felt uncomfortable about the CGI Tarkin and Leia. As good as they were, it was still uncanny valley, and they threw me out of the experience.

I struggle to remember any of the character names beyond Jyn, which is either a flaw with the script or the clarity of the dialogue (I'm getting old :codger: !).

I really missed John Williams' music. That could really have elevated some of the scenes.

That said, I thought the action scenes were possibly the best of the series so far. Possibly. And Vader at the end was truly terrifying, as he should be.
