Morgan Freeman or Christopher Walken?

Everyone seems to have bought into this idea that Walken is a parody of himself now, like they hear people say it or see it written down so they parrot it and believe it. It's not true though.

I don't know about the parroting part. I've never heard anyone say Walken was a parody of himself. I think I might've said "lampoon"...but I was connecting it more to DeNiro I think.

 

If tons of people before me had said Brad Pitt were an overacting, over appreciated Hollywood star, I'd agree!

Pitt should fight Ben Affleck in a bare knuckle fight to finish, then I'd watch them!

I like both, but Walken's performance in The Deer Hunter is untouchable ... The Dead Zone and Annie Hall make this an easy one for me

I was thinking specifically of Deer Hunter (Annie Hall was excellent of course too) and he almost won. But overall, I had to go with Freeman.

 

I feel that Walken and DeNiro have really become lampoons of themselves. Sure, their greatest work is superb but I hate to see these joke roles that they've been taking over the last several years. I can't even remember the last good movie DeNiro has been in

Cop Land came a few years after so I'm going with that. Can't think of anything else after Cop Land.

What about Ronin? I thought that was a pretty good movie.

Didn't see it. I can believe it was good though as it was only one year after Cop Land.

 

I didn't see Rocky & Bullwinkle because it looked awful but he did that in 2000. Maybe that was the starting point of when he turned to shit?

Ronin is actually quite good. It's more of an ensemble cast than a de Niro vehicle so maybe he raised his game like he did in heat.

Remade it. The novel is amazing as are the old silent movie and the Charlton Heston film.

 

But this remake is just...I don't know how to describe it but it's forgettable as you watch it. 100 million dollars. Who thought in 2016 a remake with no star power and no purpose at that cost was a good idea?

Yeah that's right. They should have put all sorts of stars in it. That would've been the ideal vehicle for something like that. Sounds like the typical movie studio trying to make a bunch of money without spending any.

Strangely, that's exactly how I felt about Fantastic Beasts.

 

I can also understand that. It worked for me but I'm not going to say it's a film for everyone. Same as Star Wars movies.

 

But the difference is FB is a new story in a developed world, whereas the recent Ben Hur is another adaptation of a book that has already been perfected.
