pjbear05
Regardless of what else goes on, yellow mustard is always there. I used to really love Heinz mustard because of the taste, but now it seems to taste different, like they reworked the recipe. Favorite dogs are Detroit style coneys. Beef/pork dog in a natural casing with yellow mustard, onions, and chili.

Crimsonmistymemory
My favorite topping was not even on the list Coleslaw! with some chopped onion and standard american yellow mustard makes an outragously delicious Hotdog. Prior to Coleslaw being number 1 it was Sourkraut but :finbar: Coleslaw is supreme!

Mustard and chili and onions if you want...... http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/02/7a/e9/80/filename-img-1685-jpg.jpgI went to a Cincinnati Reds game and tried their form of chili dogs. It was as small as a smoky link. Maybe 2 bites. WTF? Do I have to pay double to actually get a real chili dog? So then I got 2. So then I got food poisoning that night. Cincinnati can stick their stupid chili dogs. I'll rock a Flint/Detroit coney all day.

I have a dear friend from the Carolina's that turned me on to putting coleslaw on a hot dog years ago. It quickly became my very favorite topping. Adding chopped onion & classic american yellow mustard elevates to "Food of the Gods" status :finbar: there are some decent veggie hotdogs out their, not sure about vegan but you should give it a try! My thoughts were when I 1st was introduced to the concept. But as I have mentioned before Hot Dogs with out slaw are a dissapointment now. I guess though if one does not care for coleslaw they will not be able to enjoy... :D

Mustard and ketchup with the dog is enough and even the ketchup I can do without. Yeah, I've seen dogs with slaw before but that one is drowning in it. I'm not too big on extra toppings or condiments of any sort anyway so there's that too. Plus, I can take or leave cole slaw so there's that on top of all that. This isn't about slaw but it reminded me of this old cartoon sketch:

To me, things like burgers and dogs are all about the condiments and I wouldn't eat them just plain. (Plus, from a nutrition point of view, condiments like slaw, pickles, lettuce, etc. are vegetables, and that's an easy way to increase your veggie intake, especially for people who don't normally like to eat veggies.) Even stuff like salad I don't really need dressing and if I do it's just a bit. I'd rather taste the fresh veggies than some dressing drenching the whole damn thing like molten lava infiltrating the land.

YYZumbi
If we have to pick only one I gotta go with chili, but ZuZu's greek tzatziki sauce sounds strangely delicious. I could see trying that sometime. Have to be homemade to make it really nice!

I could see trying that sometime. Have to be homemade to make it really nice! That sounds delicious right now! The Greek Orthodox church near us just had a big Greek festival last weekend with all the baklava, saganaki and all the other good Greek food! We forgot about it and missed going, so hot dogs or gyros with tzatziki sauce sound really good! Yes, homemade, yum!
