bathory
I haven't heard anything past afraid of sunlight. that one and brave are really good. not as good as anything with fish though. seasons end has a couple good tunes from what I remember. holidays in eden blows. H has a pretty boring voice, the band would be ten times better with me singing. or treeduck. anybody. every song with fish is better than anything with H.
Red Dwarf
Absolutely love both Fish-era M,and H-era M.Clutching At Straws is a superb album, but I then Brave is excellent too!Like both H and Fish vocals.Great band, both era's!
Rod in Toronto
I don´t compare the two eras of the band at all - they are two completely different bands depending on who´s singing. I prefer Fish-era Marillion, and although the "other band with the same name" has some good songs (Easter, Hooks in You, Beautiful etc), I dislike 95% of their output.25 years of material with H, and the ones you mentioned are from when he first joined the band. They have come along way in evolving into the brilliant band they are currently. H Marillion isn't good, its outstanding! Believe me, I did try to get into their latest efforts, with ZERO luck. I bought Marillion.com, Anoraknophobia and the live album following that. Heard Marbles and fell asleep. Sorry to disappoint you, Tick...
Presto-digitation
I love the band, but Hogarth era only. Not a Fish fan AT ALL.
ReRushed
I like Marillion, but only the Fish era. I was lucky enough to see them twice during the 80s. A friend saw them on the bill with Rush, and that must have been great!I saw Marillion in 1983 open for Rush at Radio City Music Hall. The boos were very loud. cygnify
With Fish, Marillion was a top ten band for me. I gave them an honest try with H, but it just didn't take. I revisit them from time to time, but I just don't get the same buzz from them with H. There are a few great songs, but some of it is so bland and meh... the magic left.

Fish's presentation did not go over well to say the least. Never a fan of his era, but I like some of the H stuff, esp Marbles, which is excellent.
bathory
that show must have been crazy. rush fans are already angry enough that the band's trying to sound like the police, and then this asshole with lizard skin make-up is prancing around on stage destroying a house plant and screaming about chaucer? Relayer2112
I don't have anything of theirs past "Somewhere Else". I thought Marbles was great, but after a certain point, everything started sounding the same to me. I have a tough time listening to any Marillion anymore (Fish or H). I can't really put my finger on the reason why I stopped enjoying them altogether.
