Is the Polish league very competitive?

I'm not sure what you mean by that. If you're talking about Europe then no. Any player that starts to make a name for himself, leaves the country and ends up in Germany or some other place out west. That's why these teams haven't a prayer doing anything in Champions League. Internally, the league keeps you guessing because Poland never has a clear favorite to win a championship, unlike other nations I can think of: Spain ( Real or Barcelona ) Germany ( Bayern or Borussia ) Scotland ( Celtic or Rangers ) and so on.

I know what you mean about losing any decent players to richer leagues.

The fact at least that there is no clear favourite for the Polish championship, makes it a competitive league.

In Scotland, Celtic now have to settle for taking talented youngsters from the EPL clubs on loan, instead of buying them.

We have Patrick Roberts at the moment from Man City. Very talented. He seems to be enjoying life in Glasgow and hopefully

he will be surplus to requirements at City when his loan period ends in a years time and he stays with us.

For that to have any chance of happening, we MUST qualify for the CPL.

The other problem is the big clubs taking our very young players from us as Chelsea done with the 15 year old Islam Feruz.

Celtic took this kid from Somalia. We brought his whole family out of the country too. He was treated like a superstar due to his incredible talent.

Along came Chelsea, had a word with his brothers who "Handle" his affairs, and off he went to Chelsea.

He was too young to be offered a professional contract so he was able to simply walk away.

At Chelsea, he was just another face in the huge cardre of young talent Chelsea have amassed, and he disappeared without trace.

The frustrating thing is, Celtic have a fantastic youth Academy, where education is integrated into the training program.

Our under 14's recently won the equivalent of the CPL in their age group and the academy competes in Europe at all age levels.

It's becoming harder and harder for leagues outside the Super Rich Group to compete.

Our latest graduate to make the first team Kieran Tierney, is already attracting too much attention from English Clubs.

Thank god he has just signed a 5 year contract.

If reports are to be believed, Mario Gotze is to return to Dortmund.

I don't understand the thinking behind this decision, especially considering the outrage it caused when he moved to Bayern in the first place.

He certainly won't be getting a warm welcome on his return.

The mighty "Yellow Wall" will make their feelings abundantly clear once he shows his face.

This was the reaction when it became public that he was signing for Bayern...

Translated, it means.....

"The seeking of money , shows how much heart a man really has. Piss off Gotze!!!"

The following message needs no translation....

He really should considering signing for someone else.

Way bigger transfer news than Gotze..........................................Hull might be signing Hal Robson-Kanu and Peter Odemwingie is on trial. :sarcastic:

Not quite like Middlesbrough acquiring the services of Victor Valdes and Alvaro Negredo to be honest.

MMmm. Is that really strengthening the team?

At least the club won't be shelling out a fortune for them.

Has Bruce been given a set budget or does he have to haggle with the board for money?

I'll be happy to have them both for squad depth, but I'm a tad concerned that this might mean Hernandez (our best striker for nearly a decade) will be leaving.

Apparently his budget is £18 million, which is a lot less than most premier league teams. If the owners had sold the club to the American investors it would perhaps be more, but we'll to wait until after the transfer window for them to come in. If they don't, expect very small attendances, people have had enough of our owners for reasons I explained in the other football thread.

18 Mil Does not seem a lot for the EPL. Who know's though. Leicester proved anything is possible, even in such a competitive league.

That's true. I can't see Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea underachieving as much as they did last season, though! That's not to take anything away from Leicester of course, but the below par performances of those three teams in particular certainly helped, I think.

I think it could happen again if the big clubs buy too many new players, and they fail to gell.

José Mourinho seemed to lose the dressing room at Chelsea, it could happen again at Man Utd.

Wegner, needs to get off to a flyer or Arsenal could falter.

Klopp, still not convincing at Liverpool.

As for Pep Guardiola, he is so demanding as a manager, he could upset the squad.

At Bayern, at halftime or the final whistle, he thought nothing of marching on to the field, grabbing a player by the arm, and giving him a lengthy

lecture on some transgression . Even If the guy has played a blinder, if he has did something not to his liking, he let's him know it in front of everyone.

No player was too big for this treatment.

First half substitutions, even if the player is not injured, were not uncommon. It should be interesting to watch.

All good points. Mourinho generally starts well though, after a season or two however it could go belly up for him, I agree. Arsenal will look good up until about February, then they'll fade away as they've done consistently since 2004. I think Liverpool will be up there. Man City, could be brilliant, could falter again. Guardiola might experience a culture shock, can he beat a solid, battering ram style Tony Pulis team on a cold mid week evening, for example?

If not Pep will freak out. Bayern only lost twice domestically last season. They also won the German Cup.

Not sure how he will approach the League Cup. They don't have that here.

And Blaszczykowski is leaving Borussia. Two of the trio of Polish players, once winning championships for Dortmund is now gone. :(

Steve Bruce has now been interviewed regarding the England job, but Allardyce remains the favourite.

I remember Harry Redknapp being the favourite a few years ago and suddenly Woy Wodgson got it, I could see that happening again.

Oi!!!!!!

Hull City are set to beat Celtic to the signing of Reading and Wales defender Chris Gunter. Celtic were first alerted to the defender's availability due to his release clause of just £1.1m - a figure less than what Reading paid for him in 2012, believed to be around £2.5m. (The Sun)
