Bands You're Obsessing Over Right Now

Recommended Posts

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers

I noticed all the love and decided this was the time to finally get stuck in!

And I fell HARD!!

That is one of my favorite albums by them and my most listened to also. Glad you like it! Tom Petty is a unique guy.

Thanks!

I have listened to many of his singles over the years, but have truthfully never expected him to be much of an albums artist. I just played this and his debut and I am blow away!

Another of my favorites is Long After Dark and also his solo Wildflowers is excellent.

The opening stroll and guitar riff into Breakdown has to be one of my favorite bits of music ever. Similarly the drum and organ intro to Refugee and the erie, opening keyboard riff in You Got Lucky.

Wildflowers is just a wonderful album from top to bottom.

And days went by like paper in the wind

Everything changed

Then changed again

Its hard to find a friend....

Count me in as a fan from this day on. I loved them!

Also have to say that I am now mad in love with the music of Garth Brooks.

Say what you like US fans but in the UK we never hear music like this so it is all brand new to my ears and I love it!

Bertolt Brecht. Avantgarde German music from the 1930's...my sister was into it during her university studies back in the 70's, and I got into it during my exploration of existentialism. I was somehow compelled to re-visit it today.

I watched/listened to the original Threepenny Opera today (Mack the Knife, etc.)

Trivia: I used to live in Brecht's hometown (Augsburg, Germany), and I visited his childhood home in which he was born.

Rock is not dead, nor is blues, nor is soul, nor is folk, nor are the Nordic folks who seem to have effortlessly breathed out this masterpiece of an Amercan debut album they just released called A/B

It's like the nicest flu virus ever that won't go away...they just linger for age and yet I love it!

I may have mentioned it elsewhere. I'm spending time that would usually be :rush: time getting reacquainted with Baby Animals. Especially the "new" album This Is Not The End.

Usually the bands that I'm obsessing over at a particular moment are those that I've seen live recently, am going to see live soon within the next few months, or have new albums/releases coming out in said period.

That said the bands that currently enthrall me and are in regular rotation for this month are Kayo Dot, Sumac, Boris, and Wolves In The Throne Room and in that order.

Neal Morse. Don't agree with his views........but screw it his music kicks ass. His live shows are amazing too.

Mick

Sounds like me and Springsteen!

Sometimes to appreciate art you just have to let go of personal differences.
