GM, is that your personal video from the Hershey show or is it from a bootleg?

That's from a bootleg. I was up in the rafters for that one, trying not to go crazy when I couldn't get up and bop to Leave That Thing Alone.

Ahhhhhh, I love :rush:!

I had a dream the other night I was at a show up in the rafters. In the dream, i had to take an elevator to the 8th floor to get to my seat, but I snuck away from my husband and went back down to the first floor and found a vacant seat in the first row and sat down. But, Rush never came on stage. It was so sad. :(

Aww, that is sad. Let's distract ourselves by doing some gushing.

What are some of your favourite Rush small moments? Here are two I can think of off the top of my head:

Entre Nous at 1 minute in, Alex's guitar behind "brief eclipse."

The Camera Eye at 4:52, Geddy's bass accents immediately following "like an English rain."

Did I miss the gushaholicfiestaparty?

I don't even know where to start in the gushaholicfiestaparty. Maybe Cygus X-1? It's perfect from start to finish. I love the spacy intro all the way to the "Sound and fury drowns my heart....every nerve Is torn apaaaaaart... part. :) The whole song is fairly simple but just full of power and craziness. It's way up there with Xanadu as one of my favorite Rush songs ever.

They put out so many great songs since 1974. A rotation so vast I can listen to them almost daily without having to over plays songs. It's smart music not just songs aboot scoring chicks, pubic lice and farts.

You are so right, John Rogers. :codger:

Not a public lice among the vast discology.

 John Rogers, you just said it!

I just popped in here to gush over Rush.

Here is an especially fierce version of The Camera Eye.

I'd like to gush about the R40 Tour. How did those three guys manage to pull of a tour that amazing? The setlist, the lightshow, Geddy somehow singing those 70's songs. Sure, Alex was a bit sloppy on the tour but the man does have arthritis. Another thing that made the tour so great was the reverse chronological stage and all the different instruments they used. How does Geddy afford all those basses? If that was there last tour, what a way to go out.

Edit: I forgot one last thing: "f*ck you, puppet!"

I'm going to gush over Tears

We all know that 2112 is one of the greatest albums of all time, and the first thing that comes to mind with 2112 is the epic, Ayn Rand influenced title track that launched one of single most identifiable logos of all time in The Starman, brought Rush back from the dead and forever after gave them free reign in the studio ..

But 2112 is not just one song

Tears is the perfect Side Two song - understated, emotional and very moving and I wish the ending was only the beginning -

TEN MORE MINUTES OF TEARS !!!!!!

WE paid for those basses. :)

Technically doesn't that mean that those basses are our basses? :)

Possession is 9/10ths of the law.

This thread makes me happy. -----------> :)

I have to finish cleaning our mansion. Then I shall come back and gush some more. :codger:

When it comes to Rush, there is a lot to gush about.

But before I forget to mention this: GM, you might want to watch the video of LaVilla from that Time Machine boot I was watching last night. Geddy turns around and faces Neil at one point in the song for about a minute or so and does some - erm - interesting movements.

While this thread is a good idea, I also find it kind of sad that we need a thread like this instead of having the whole Rush section full of gushing like it used to be when I joined.

^^^ too true

I want to gush about Working Man in LA - the last R40 show.

Alex gave his all in that one. Anything he had left, he poured himself into that guitar solo. I have most of the audio boots from that tour, and he didn't do Working Man in any one of them like he did in LA.

And Geddy - I have watched the video of that song many times and a few different tapers' versions. I'd love to know what was going through his mind. There is no doubt he was emotional about it being the last show of the tour and the possibility of it being the last show Rush ever did again.

That wasn't my intention. Just an observation I had.
