On a more abstract note, I love how fashion magazines keep touting florals and pastels in spring/summer as the next big trend as if that hasn't been the status quo for the past ever.

Agreed. Pastels and flowers always existed, since fashion started.

 

I remember how pastel colors were used during the 90's. Just the color itself with a slight geometric cut, very classic.

 

But I usually don't use these colors. I choose deeper colors.

I use black a lot too. Among favorites, but not the first one.

 

Some fabrics and looks are better in black, I see.
