My Company Truck Hates 1/3 of Clockwork Angels

Recommended Posts

This is the most bizarre account of how for some reason my company take home truck (2014 F-150) has some issues with the ending of the awesome Clockwork angels CD (yes I know CD's are like supposed to extinct). To give a brief epilogue, My beloved company has me driving from Tampa (fl) to Orlando (fl) every weekday. So I have 60-90 minutes each way (some times worse) to think about that I am going where I should instead of where I want. Anyhoo the best promotor of good construction thought waves just happens to be Rush music. So with this wondeful fringe benifit by bieng able to spin alot of discs during the course of a week I can look over some other discrepancies(different topic post lol). So I have my eclectic rotation in its transitory state. Then I get around to slipping in Clockwork Angels and setteling in for some enjoyable construction thought lubrication. Around Halo Effect a slight crackle/static starts in the back ground I do have the system thumping as any audio tester of construction thought lubricatin should! I make sure everything is working at "peak" performance to keep the thought process going. By the time the Wreckers is on a loud level crackle/static very present, By BU2B2 unbearable!! I cannot even hear The Garden over the static, snap, crackle & pop(s) which is terrible because I love that song. Now I am thinking is the primordial cd spining/reading mechanizim thingie in distress?? I play many cd's with more songs and way more time EG; Chronicles and assorted Retrospect discs on this truck cd player and no static at all. I can take the Clockwork Angels cd and play it any other cd player (including the $7 dollar one in my work shop that I bought in a pawn shop) and the disc playes perfect! It is the most strange $#!T... I know if it was a truck I paid for I would send it Back and say it was possessed!! Some awful, evil subroutine program plot planted by the Rolling Stone (well at least the factory audio system) all of Ford may not be infected (yet). I am going to try to fool this audio Chupecabra! I don't want to say it too loud but I am going to format the C***KW**K A*g*L* *D to mpE (wink wink) and sync through my cell phone. I just hope I can keep an eye on the road while this potential Fray begins. All I can say isTooo Wierd... Edited by Crimsonmistymemory

Weird. I know some more modern CD's can have some playback issues in older players that are put in cars, but I have never heard of anything like that. For me, the only two problems I have had is that a bunch of Blank discs I bought for mixes would replace the bass (not the guitar, but the thump-thump kinda stuff) with clicks in certain cars, and I own one CD that was published by a record company that otherwise has no flaws with their CDs, yet this one particular one refuses to play in my car, and my car alone.

By The Way, CDs are not dead. So long as someone wants a package that contains: Physical Artwork, good quality music, car playback, and an ease of sharing the media, CD's are the best format. Vinyl covers the first two categories, and regular online distribution can cover the last two, but the CD gets all four.

Had my car for five months when I noticed...that's where the CD slot is! Lovin that Bluetooth.

That is most puzzling.

I occasionally do the digital download for music, but as long as CDs are produced for my favorite artists...I will buy them. :codger: Edited by A rocket that ignites itself

So I have a new chapter to this story and I believe Ford CD players do not like Clockwork angels even more than the 1st time. My company issued a new 2016 F150 to me. Got it at the end of the day Yesterday. Knowing the issue I had with my other trucks CD player, 1st thing this morning I put in Clockwork Angels. By the title track (Clockwork Angels) track 3 (this time)the annoying static starts. I was so depressed I just shut it off in disbelief! As I mentioned last year the CD I have of this album plays flawlessly in every other CD player I put it in. It is not smudged or scratched and is in like new condition as I care very much for my :rush: CD collection. This is too weird!! It also sucks as Clockwork Angels is awesome music to ease on down the road with. As is all :rush: music.

I may be the only person here that's more disturbed by the fact that you drive to Orlando and back daily than your CD player issue. This is extreme torture that I don't know how you deal with. I think I remember you saying you live in south Tampa. What part of Orlando do you have to drive to?

No Orlando commuting these daze thank God!!! I finished that project last year. I now only have to drive to Clearwater to my current project. My employer did try to assign me another project over there and I respectfully told them if I wanted to work in Orlando I would live in Orlando. I live in central Tampa and I was driving to Disney everyday. 1-4 sucks, working at Disney sucks (for construction projects anyway)and all the tourist laden traffic in Orlando sucks. The Courtney Campbell Causeway is a much nicer drive.

Courtney Campbell is not a picnic so it just goes to show how bad that Orlando commute is. It's bad the whole way over too. I always see several dangerous situations and maneuvers when I drive over there. At least driving to Clearwater is scenic. I work in Palm harbor but I take shortcuts through citrus park and west chase so traffic is minor.

You are correct regarding the causeway sometimes being a pain. But like you mentioned if stuck at least you have the beautiful water sceneries especially in the morning and evenings. The only aggrivating part is when you see folks out on their boats and think man that should be me now ;)
