Geddy on Dan Patrick: "people can change their minds, but..."

I could see Geddy getting together with an 'all-star' group. Maybe putting together an album and touring. Playing some Fav Headache tunes along with tunes from other players. Maybe something like a more proggy Chickenfoot. Even at his older age, I would think playing a little out of your comfort zone might be a reinvigerating change for him.

As for Al, I could see him being a homebody. Maybe producing or contributing as guest artist for various bands...but home by 6pm for dinner.

As for Neil...who knows.

Neil's attitude & expectations about the music biz has always irritated me to no end. On one hand he wants to be, and is, a great musician, yet on the other hand he doesn't want the accolades that come hand in hand with that. On one hand he wants to be in a successful rock band but on the other he doesn't want to interact or deal with the public that make that desire possible. He seems a selfish pill that the wants & expects everything on his own terms. How hard would it have been for him to come out after each how and give a curtain call with G&A, like most performers do, and not run off like he could care less. I know, I know...he's elaborated on this but I really don't care. As it is I'm rather sick of his petulant, woe is me and my crazy fans I need a bodyguard because I can't talk to people unless it's on my own terms, schtick. Bah!

I'm just happy that Geddy is in a little better place with the initial shock having worn off. He seems to be processing it a bit better though I'm sure he's more than a little distracted at the moment.

I get the impression Geddy isn't processing it well at all. He seems to be a rudder without a ship at the moment. (Or is that supposed to be a ship without a rudder? You all know what I mean anyway - Geddy seems lost to me and not quite sure what to do with himself at the moment.) And if you watch him at the end of the LA show, he seemed a bit overwhelmed by it all. I think we would have gotten more in the way of a "farewell speech" out of him, but Neil distracted him at the end.

Anyway, i think Geddy is taking it the hardest and the worst

geddy doesn't want to retire. he would keep playing until he dropped. that's just who he is, he has said that playing live is what he lives for

Hence forth, why my respect for Neil is dropping to very low levels.

That'll get him back on the road. Because he's a pretty smart guy most of the time, certainly smart enough to know the world revolves around you.

I'm not the only one who shares that opinion.

Neil killed the thing he helped create, by now I highly doubt his arthritis is even that bad and he's just using it as an excuse. Alex on the other hand was clearly in some sort of pain towards the beginning of the tour.

Neil was spot on the entire tour, which leads me to believe he either masks the pain well or he was lying.

Neil has tendinitis but it's possible he has arthritis too. As someone who has both, it's not something you can really work through.

Geddy is a performer and loves to perform. I don't see him giving it up. Where there's a will, there's a way, even if he has to go out there solo. I'd pay to see him.

It is kind of sad when you think about ALL of this. It's just nature and how one ages and how it effects our/their look on life. How they/we feel physically, emotionally etc. I just turned 55 obviously and they are 6 to 7 years older than I am and I can feel my mortality tapping me on the shoulder from time to time already. What do I/they want to do with what time they have left? The endeavor to write, record, tour new music and all that comes with that just may not be in the cards at this point and especially for 3 completely different individuals with different family and physical anomalies at their ages. When you really consider what they have done together for 40+ years it's a minor miracle already. It's unfortunate for Ged mostly because I truly believe he has the health and boyhood exuberance to produce at least another recording and tour but he is only 33.3 % of this thing. The physical difficulties of the other 66.6 percent may just end things as we have known them. Truth be told it's natural and should be the expectation not an anomaly.

I would be thrilled just to get one more quality old school recording from them at this point done at their leisure. Vocals are optional also at least for me at this point. They could also decide as a group to do nothing more and I would sleep just fine. Thanks for the mammaries fellas... :codger:

It would be very cool to see Ged and Alex start a new band with a different singer, a keyboard player and a drummer. It would be awesome to see those guys just rock out on their instruments and leave the vocals and keys to the rest of the band.

Damn, I thought i was the one taking it the hardest and the worst. My heart sinks every time I think about it. I have no ill will towards Neil though. Just filled with disappointment, but I do respect his prerogative. :(

I wouldn't be surprised to see Geddy play a show or two with The Who. I don't think his heart would be into doing an entire tour, but I could absolutely see a few shows as a realistic possibility.

well...no one original, but Steve howe is close. IN light of Squire's recent death, I think Geddy would find replacing him...a little creepy and intimidating.

Yeah I agree. That's a band that should just stop now that Chris Squire is gone.
