All of Alex's Guitars used on R40 Tour (spoilers)

The OLV Strat has an Evans eliminator in the middle position and a Zexcoil Juicy Bucker in the bridge position without the cover on it.

The guitar used on Jacob's ladder and Far Cry is most likely the 57 Reissue he has been using since the S&A Tour that has a peizo in the bridge.

The guitar on Losing It was the same one he used for Subdivisions

Wheres the strat? Used on OLV

-Strat on OLV is an 50's reissue (probably 57), has a strange pickup in bridge position and reversed input jack (ala Hentor).

The OLV Strat has an Evans eliminator in the middle position and a Zexcoil Juicy Bucker in the bridge position without the cover on it.

Sorry if this is a dumb question (and I'm sure it is) but for the really early stuff, are those the original guitars he used back during those times? I assume so, but I thought maybe not just because these guys might be afraid of bringing the old gear that is priceless to them on the road. You hear about bands getting ripped off frequently enough where I could understand the concern.

That's certainly a valid question.

The Les Pauls are likely new and part of his line with Gibson. The white ES355 he's had since the mid 70s but I'm not sure if it's the original. He had a tobacco ES355 waaaaay back in the day, but I'm not sure if that's the original. I think the double neck is new and modeled like his one from the 70s. The other guitars are new...I don't remember him ever playing a Telecaster in the 70s.

Vintage instruments definately have a 'cool' retro factor. But I think they're probably more finicky for serious road use 30-40 years later.

the 355 is THE 355, not a reissue, so is the '68 355 from the encore. You think Jimmy Page's no1 lester is "finicky"? Nope...Well maintained guitars get better with age for the most part.

Not to nitpick, but it's actually a 335 he plays during the encore. Also, I'm pretty sure the double neck is the one he's had since his cherry one got demolished

Two things - first, VERY weird seeing Alex playing a Rickenbacker guitar...

Second... I remember seeing the 2112 Tour in Ottawa and Alex only had two guitars on stage (that I can recall) - one, a Les Paul and two, his old Tobacco ES 355 (or, 335? Not sure.) How money changes things.

Wicked original post, by the way... and I thought we drummers were tech nuts!

Hi, just a couple of points on this old thread:

The 2112/Hemisphere R40 Guitar isn't a 59 or reissue- it's Alex's 1972 Norlin era honeyburst. It weighs about 11lbs!

The '355' in burst on Working Man is a 1968 Norlin era 335.

Not that I'm a big follower of Al's guitars beyond the ES 335/355's and that gorgeous gold Les he played during Anarchist on the CA tour.... BUT.... I was kind of disappointed that he didn't drag out the actual Hentor Sportscaster (from the P/G days) for R40. I figured a retrospective tour would bring out that model.

Oh well.

I know he's bought the original 1957 GT that he used on R40 at the Forum off Ged now.
