I have so many new friends out there in the world because of Rush. I can't believe it's been a month since the end of the tour. My summer of Rush R40! I miss the excitement of planning for the next concert. I miss periscope. I miss them LIVE. So many special memories. The excited feeling as the days ticked down to my first Rush concert, May 8th. The wonder of it all, my eyes glued on the stage through my binoculars. The gift of pretend my husband gave me, pretending to like them, sharing my excitement in picking out our seats on-line, getting really excited as time to go got closer. In line for souveneirs the pretend wears off fast when I want the Blu-ray box set, T-shirt & poster! Afterwards, getting drenched by the storm that moved in during the show. Then we lost our parking lot! Afterwards wanting more! Husband beginning to get worried as I say I want to go again.

Twisting my BF Theresa's arm to road trip to Dallas with me, almost getting run over on the way down there, laughing & praying to get there in 1 piece! Eeeeee, there is Geddy, 16 rows away. I don't even need my binoculars to see him! Afterwards wanting more! Now, defiance setting in, I will have more! Hubby no longer pretending AT ALL that he likes them & mad, really mad at the $$ I'm spending.

Going on-line now in stealth mode for super $$$ 2nd row KC! Selling one ticket to another fan, turned friend, Pete, a fellow nurse, we laugh & swap war stories full of blood & guts. I road trip to Missouri. Alone! HUGE fear conquered! The meet up. THE meet up at KC, what a blast! I've found my people! I made Rush jewelry for my new pals. Eeeeeeee, there is Geddy, he's really close. He sees me! He sees my poster! He makes the poochy lips at me! Of course I jump up & down like an idiot the entire show. And of course...I want MORE!

Now I enter full out war at home. I WILL GO, once more. A thousand no's but I am persistent! I overcome! Now I will spend $$$$ & take my son for his first flight, first rock concert ever, at the Forum in LA! Can't believe I am flying out of state for a concert. Surreal.

I brave 3 airports for Rush! They don't know I am facing my deepest fears of getting lost at a huge airport! Arrive, Meet more new Rush friends at the hotel. The show, THE SHOW, words fail! Reliving the 1st concert thrill through my son's eyes...priceless. Lights aglow all over the arena during 'Closer to the heart', as we all show them how much we love them! Watching Alex, Neil & Geddy link arms, then wave & say goodbye (for now).

Then back to the hotel after the taxi fiasco. Manhattan Beach on Sunday, this is the good stuff, I tell my son as we eat lunch on the sand. Later we run out into the waves, laughing, splashing. I will never forget this magical summer of Rush!

Great post...so glad you got to enjoy that much of the tour!

I only got to one show, but I'm grateful for it all the same.

I have a lot great and crazy road trip stories as well, but they're all in the past.

Wow, that was a fantastic story. Great that you were able to travel to a few shows, and even better that we met in LA.

This summer was totally surreal. I'm still trying to come to terms with the whole experience. It was so wonderful...

It was a highlight of my life. Meeting you was like meeting a lost brother. I will never forget these words on Sunday morning heading to breakfast as you approached me: "Duff I'm so f***ed! I met these Brazilian guys...."

Awesome. Know this...we will meet again. Getting my lederhosen measured right now!

Haha that was great and true. I was f**ked! Three hours before I met you for breakfast, I slept on the floor outside my room.

There was something special in the air in LA. The energy was almost magical, so gentle and sweet. It all felt just right. Great experience.

Love the thought to meet you again, my long awaited Freund und Bruder.

Here's a typical Lederhosen song for you.

I was just thinking that myself today. Hard to believe it's only been a month since the last show. In some ways it seems like it's been six months. The tour was so short it was over in a flash. I sure hope it isn't the last time that we get to see them but if it is, they couldn't have gone out on a higher note.

Gypsy Muse, I just re-read your original post and want to like it a bunch of times, but sadly I can't. Isn't it amazing the intense love of music and dedication that Rush inspires in us? This has also been the only band I've ever travelled alone to see but it was so worth it to do so.

It was great meeting you in LA, and if only we could have a "Sheraton reunion" :D

You can like a post as many times as you want- but you have to unlike it every time in between, to do so. :(

Your point is well taken, though, yes!

Maybe we need separate "Like This" and "Like This x1000" buttons!

Mine and my daughter's "Summer of Rush R40" was also something I'll never forget. It all started with the Atlanta show. After that came a 2,900 mile 9 day road trip that started and ended in North Georgia. The trip included the Toronto show (night 2), RushCon, the Montreal show on Father's Day, a visit to the LeStudio site, a visit to Lakeside Park, a day in Niagra Falls (including a ride on the "Maid of the Mist"), and a 3 day visit with family in Akron before driving home. We spent a lot of time talking on the road had made memories that I'm sure neither one of us will ever forget. It seems like it was yesterday that I was taking her to her first Rush show on the T4E tour after she just turned 5. Edited by Mr. JD

Mr. JD, how awesome is that! Was that 5 shows total? Do they love Rush, or just play along? I so badly wanted to go to Rushcon, but we were pressed for time & money. On roadtrips, i have noticed that there are conversations that happen in that setting, that don't happen in any other way. Something about those miles & miles of road just seems to be conducive to deep discussions about life & dreams. Someday, I'd love to go up to Canada. You've got some cool trip memories! I love hearing other people's experiences. : ) Edited by gypsy muse

Yay! I have figured out how to make a reply box!!! I guess if you don't make a box, the person doesn't know if you responded? I wish I knew what I was doing on here, with the technicals. So you have traveled alone for Rush too! Awesome! They definitely inspire a passion. I'm so glad you understand & thank-you for liking my post. It meant a lot. We'll see them again, I just know it. I better start saving up now for front row!!! I have high hopes for a reunion as well! :) Edited by gypsy muse

We only did 3 shows on the R40 tour. I think we have been to around 25 total Rush shows together since the T4E tour. And yes, she LOVES Rush!

Yay, glad you are figuring things out.

Although I met up with the guys in LA I travelled to that show, and the other shows I went to on this tour, by myself. But it is so much more fun going to a show with someone!

^ True- especially when traveling with someone (or a group) of people over the distance between shows.

That's been awhile, for me. But I have great memories of it.
