Periscopers Tribute and Gratitude Thread

Don't you think we should do something special for all those who provided the R40 shows for all of us who couldn't be at the concert?

What would we have done without them? They went to a concert, and made sure all of us went too!

They are a generous breed. My heartfelt thanks to all of them! Sometimes they were a little abused ("he's shaking it so much I'm going to have a seizure," "I wish he'd shut up" etc.) but I hope they know that we appreciated their efforts.

I guess that's what all the hearts were for. Here's a few more:

Never watched one

I saw the beginning of the first few but that was about it. It looked like good fun reading through parts of the threads the day after. Whomever did the periscope at the shows does deserve credit for sure...

Does anyone follow Bob on twitter? If he is not a member, we should get him to join TRF, and his lady friend as well.

Oh, those closeups ( not of Rush). Zoom in a little more Bob! Oh my!!

:o

Neither have I, but I am one of a handful of people left in the world who still have dial up. If you have high speed, what's your excuse?

With all the things the internet can do now, I have no idea how I could handle dial up today. It was fine back in the 90s when the internet was still new but I didn't even know it was still offered until you joined here. My respect goes out to you because I can't imagine the patience it takes to still use dial up today and all the internet limitations you must have.

I don't remember any names but I would like to give a big thank you out to all who periscoped the Rush shows on this tour. But just to the ones who did a whole show or most of it. All you teases who would drop in and out and only did a few songs can take a hike ;) Watching opening night as the setlist unfolded live was just magical. Everyone, including me, freaking out as the second half of the set went on was probably my favorite experience ever on this site.

Well... It all started with Bob, and his girlfriend... La dancerista!.... I missed the last show, saw only a few songs from the majority of the last leg, but if Bob had an equal, it was Cactus Pete, who probably had to be nailed to a couple 2X4s to finish the Vancouver show... Thankfully, he appeared in the comments of a later feed on Periscope, so he did make it home OK... It was a great summer periscoping and joking around with all of you, especially the regulars, Tombstone, Rushbass, Eaglemoon, Gabriel, Toymaker and every one else who's name I forget! Let's hope we'll get to do it all agaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!! :)

That is very nice of you to say.

This is the way I look at it. These people spent hundreds of dollars to go to a Rush concert so they could sit there holding their arms up and a whatever in their hands so others could watch the concert too. That was very selfless of them, even though some of them got a little carried away at times. It must have been a bother to do. A lot easier to just sit there and watch. I don't know that I would have, if I could, done it myself unless I had gone to more than one concert. I would not have scoped a concert if I was only going to one, that's for sure.

But I really do think it was wonderful that anyone that was able could actually watch a live concert on their computer and it was on account of these selfless souls.

The threads were a lot of fun too. Even in Catherine punked out of them early in the tour. I wonder what we did..... .

Never watched one

You MISSED out on perhaps the best, most entertaining threads to grace TRF.

Can I get a witness?

It's true he did. Even if you couldn't watch, just being on one of those threads was a lot of fun.

I hope we will be able to have an experience like that again on here.

The good humor and camaraderie was just wonderful. Getting to know folks that I'd never otherwise know was fantastic.

On top of that...seeing Rush play basically for every show...well.

Great thread, Lorraine! I'm REALLY grateful to all the periscopers, and to the TRFers who were watching during this summer!

Sorry if repeating, but I have an autoimmune condition that sometimes affects my activity level, etc. and I just couldn't travel to a concert this summer. I thought I would have to just wait for the DVD and then watch it by myself while my family asks which one is Neil again!! :) Periscope and the scope threads on here turned out to be perfect for me. I couldn't have asked for anything better, short of being there! You guys are the best company!! And then between shows we had the fun of seeing everyone's photos and looking at the landmarks in x1yyz's intro video thread.

Everyone really made it an awesome summer and filled with so much more Rush and fun here than I imagined. :notworthy: :notworthy: Thanks to all-(and the phrase Bob's girlfriend will crack me up for the rest of my life, unexplainably to most others!! :D)

Yes, thanks to everyone who made the "sacrifice"! I call it that because it really is. It's a lot easier to enjoy the show when you are just standing there watching it with your arms crossed and not a care in the world. It's entirely something else to keep it steady, keep it properly powered, and keep it going. It does distract you a bit in your own enjoyment of the show. So thank you, to all of you who took the "Periscope Plunge"! ;)

How about the Oklahoma reporter that scoped the first set of the Tulsa show? I think his name was Rich Mills?? Thanks to him (sorry if I got your name wrong) for getting the ball rolling and all the scopers! AN incredible experience. We should try to keep it going in MusicSpheres, post links to various concerts and discuss. But it ain't Rush and probably much harder to find a scoper.

Watching periscope feeds with everyone was a once in a lifetime experience. So much fun sharing it with everyone on top of being able to see the concerts live like that. Next best thing to actually being there. I do feel sorry for anyone who missed it because it's been the highlight of my time here I would say that for sure.
