Well, at least all three of them signed my RS magazine before they pulled the plug.

:)

Did you get it back yet?

Yes. I got it back Wednesday! :) And I am very fortunate to have gotten all three of their signatures. One person only got Geddy's, and another got Alex and Geddy, but mine has all three.

Neil is a hard dude to read based on facial expression. When I watch him perform, he looks a little glum and scowly to me, but I'm sure that's his focus, not anything like a "resting bitch face" or whatever. In photos he looks pleasant enough - not all-out grinning, but not scowling, either.

In the past, his "scowling" onstage persona often carried through backstage, except, around certain people. While I think the onstage face was a combination of concentration, determination, and perfectionism, the identical scowl took on a more self-defense feel backstage. His thinking is that if he looks miserable, people will be less likely to approach him. And, that's the way he wants it. It's a sound strategy that really works!

I was watching him play What You're Doing on youtube recently, and I found it impossible to fathom what might be going on there. He's not blasting fills into it every 5 seconds like he might have done in the old days - not over-playing it, I guess. But is he thinking "one more tune after this one? One more tune after this one?" and "six more shows after this one?" Then I gave myself a shake and said, "what the hell are you doing trying to speculate about a perfect stranger? Get back to work!|"

YES, that's exactly what he's thinking. Especially on this tour. He literally counts down shows and the closer to the end they get, the happier he is. Every now & then you'll see him & Alex make eye contact and if he's smiling, it usually means one of 'em just mouthed to the other, "5 more", "4 more", etc. I'll be interested to see how that "covert onstage banter" plays out on the final night...

Lorraine, to answer your question (in your heart, you already know this)... NO, no chance. :D

I would think that after Alex's Eddie Trunk interview, that would take of the "will the tour be extended?" question.

This is such a great Tour. I think its the Tour most RUSH fans have been waiting for. I believe it deserves a second leg. I think it will happen but not in the usual way. I think they will take the rest of the Winter off. Release the live DVD/CD around the holidays then Announce the 2nd leg of the Tour in support of the live album. Then start touring again in April of 2016. I think RUSH fans everywhere deserve to see this tour. Anyway those are my thoughts on it. What do you guys think about it?

:rush: :rush: :rush:

Just like I was wrong about them touring with an Orchestra and Just like I was wrong about them playing Losing It live. I can go on and on but I'll just leave you with this:

Its funny because I'm reading his Roadshow book which he wrote about the R30 tour and all his motorcycle travels, I'm almost finished. But he says the exact same thing! How him and Alex would count down the number of shows remaining till the end of the tour. I really don't get him now, he does all these projects, books, instructional DVDs, records, tours… you would think the guy enjoys what he's doing. Then you read his books and he makes it seem like it is such a burden. On his DVDs he seems so enthusiastic and I guess the main thing he enjoys is his motorcycle but wow. Im also kind of confused if you "can't pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend" and hearing some of his stories yes its creepy when people randomly come up to you and annoy you. I get that. But why write so much literature and discuss so many personal things for the whole world to read?

As silly as this will sound to some, I will ask it anyway.

Any chance Neil is actually having a good time this tour and will reconsider his earlier decision?

I think he is having a good time BECAUSE he knows it is coming to an end. The soreness, the travel, the being away from family, I am glad he is having fun, but IMO, it's not because he'll miss it.

You know how when you give a 2 week notice for a job, and you are actually happy to go in to work? You can approach it 2 ways, go through the motions or give it your best for 2 weeks. It's on the employee. And Neil is a great employee dedicated to his skill.

You are anticipating something new. A new beginning. And that feeling is awesome.

Spot on, I think they all might know it's the end why would they bring all the stage props, all the different instruments on stage with them this time around? Geddy and Alex could of use 4-5 intstruments n this Tour but they choose to bring out the vintage stuff one last time, plus Neil 1970's era Drums too for the second set.

Yep., It's all obvious to anyone who's actually paying attention.

Unfortunately, some fanboys hereabouts just can't wrap their heads around it. Pity. Ah well. The world will keep spinning nonetheless.

You are on crack cocaine and you are a "Beautiful Dreamer" to quote a song title from Yesterday & Today. This band is done. All of you Rush fans on here who keep posting about a second leg are sadly wasting your time.

Didn't you Rush fans who have seen the final video at the end of the show even fuckking get it?

Just look at Neil's face.

Jesus Christ. I'm too old for this shit. (I'm really not!) I hope you younger fans are right and get another crack at the greatest band in the world.

I've been in love with them since 1980 which isn't that impressive.

My first show was 1984.

It's over folks.

Hope you will prove me wrong. It's a gut feeling.

I agree the signs are there for all to see. I don't, however, understand the beatdown a few of you seem to level at anyone who wants to enjoy some hope. Unless some of you are in or work for the band why convey such condescending comments towards our fellow fans? Nobody knows for sure what any other human being is going to choose. I had a great talk with Howard U in SLC, I also asked him a few of these typical type questions as well, and he definitely seemed aware of an end. He was also very cool to me in the face of this end, saying touring is probably done, but hopeful for something Rush in the future. He certainly didn't treat me as if it was ridiculous to feel some hope as well.

It doesn't fuckking matter what any of us think. I might get misty eyed on August 1st but who cares! "In The End" the boys will retire and that will be IT!

Alex has his golf. Geddy has his baseball and his wine. Neil has his awesome young family.

They deserve to retire at the top and they will.

BOTTOM LINE!

Side projects?

Perhaps but who gives a fukk.

Once Rush is done forever it's time to move on.

I'm losing my wife in the same year. I'm actually excited about it.

I too get to start over.

Rush music will keep me strong until the bitter end.

At least I have two beautiful, intellectual daughter who both play soccer at a high level. One is going to play at Portland State.

I'm am blessed.

To be a broken record I am also cursed.

If anyone out the the boys who needs to really hang it up it's NEIL.

I've read that Alex is hurting too but man he can still fukking shred with the best of them.

Geddy is still young at heart, mind and man his voice was great last night. I was shocked.

I still can't believe how he sang all of those fuckking classics.

I mean I remember on the R30 Tour when they opened with that weak intro to many early songs instrumentally.

I thought even then.... "It figures that Geddy isn't singing that stuff anymore.

But then in 2015 they pull out BOOK I and II? Fuckking "ANTHEM?"

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????

Geddy fuckking pulled it off and they are near the end of the TOUR.

I can't wait to get in my car and head down south.

This shit keeps me young!!

I'm going on my last RUSH MISSION!

It's without my wife which makes me sad but I must "CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SON!!"

I will be single for the rest of my life.

Forget a girlfriend and forget a new wife.

That rhymed on purpose.

Fukk it.

Some people need to be with someone all the time.

I'm going to embrace my independence.

I have Rush Music and The Rush Forum!

I have my A's. I have my Raiders.

I have my drums!

I have my concerts!

I have my plethora of music.

Cheers!

GOODNIGHT!

Just delete this thread if I have gone too far.........

I do! I did! I came back here and mentioned it, but it didn't get much of a response, but I thought the exit...stage left video was a very strong message. And whoever put it together, or even thought of it, is very imaginative and creative. It was done very well, and it is very poignant.

Exactly. It was their version of walking into the sunset like in the old tv westerns.

Your problem is being a Raiders fan when there is a perfectly good 49ers team in the area.

That's it! I remember the first time I saw it thinking to myself: am I the only one that gets the message? It's loud and clear.

It's hard for me to watch it now. What makes it even more sad are the flashbacks of Geddy saying goodnight throughout the decades.

Of course the puppet video is referring to last tour of this magnitude.

"I have a few ideas that don't involve a full tour." Attributed to the man that usually is the most reliable source of what Rush will do.

I prefer to have prepared for the end (as i am not flying out to LA as the cross country flight back would be beyond depressing, and I already lived "the end" last month)...

...and have a little hope that the future can always bring surprises. Seeing Gilmour schedule four two date stops in North America after a nine year hiatus, hope springs eternal.
