Seattle: Don't Forget Your Raincoat symbol: Elephant Car Wash http://www.elephantcarwash.com/

Kinda out of place since it hasn't rained since April right?

Was that the last time it rained there?

I actually saw the Elephant Car Wash when I drove into town. It is the first of the "Rush landmarks" that I've seen.

Wait just a minute! They used "Our BBQ is better" twice?! Greensboro and Kansas City? Sacrilege!

Actually, the KC one had an exclamation point -- kind of like a response to the NC slogan :)

I've seen the Watermelon tower, but that's it. Going on a road trip next month, and will be able to hit SLC, Denver, KC, New Orleans, Houston, Nebraska, etc so might be able to see some of the others...

I'm attending the Portland show tomorrow and am really curious what they'll use. Perhaps they'll re-use "Keep it weird" since Keep Portland Weird is one of those things it's known for. Not sure what the landmark will be. Perhaps the Big Illuminated Franz Bread (http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/22667)?

How long will it be until someone completes the Tour of North American Rush Landmarks?

I'm wondering what motto & landmark they will use for San Jose because there's really nothing special about San Jose. Of course, since many of the landmarks they choose are far from the venues, maybe they'll choose a San Francisco landmark.

I was thinking today that some of the landmarks, like these couple I took from the list, are very whimsical and not necessarily the first thing you would pick from that city. It crossed my mind that maybe Neil helped pick some of them so his daughter Olivia could have fun looking at them as well :)

I live nowhere near BC and I thought that's what it was when I saw the picture. But i've always been into all that unexplained sea monsters/creatures/bigfoot kind of stuff anyways.

That is awesome. I never would have figured out what the heck it was; the giant ball of twine was more my area of knowledge since I knit! :P

Does anyone have the image from Portland? I can't find one (yet)...

It was "land of many bridges", as I recall, with a Paul Bunyan. No picture though. :(
