The most inexcusable, unforgivable, unconscionable omission from R40

My door Into Rush was the Rio DVD about ten years ago.

It took a few years for them to totally grow on me, but back then, when I guess you would have to have called me a casual fan, I was markedly more impressed by leave that thing alone, and red sector A, than anything else on that DVD.

I love Tom Sawyer on Rio, but because of the audience energy on it. Amazing.

What's inexcusable is the fact they played the abbreviated Lakeside Park on the 24th of May without singing the 24th of May part.

and not playing Camera Eye at MSG in NYC. "Streets of Manhattan"

JR, did you end up going to MSG? Way way back in the era when Rush used to tour eastern North America!

I didn't make MSG this tour although it was planned, I did Denver instead...Rocky Mountain High! I've seen shows at MSG. Most Rush concerts where at the Brendan Byrne Arena and PNC Arts Center. My favorite was 3rd row at Radio City for the Signals tour.

1. No Presto, HYF, or Power Windows songs

2. Performing The Camera Eye as the B song instead of Witch Hunt

Other than those two things this tour is pretty much perfection.

The band is playing songs from the most recent albums because they pride themselves on not being a nostalgia act, even on a tour designed to induce nostalgia. They like their new music and want to play it.

The band isn't playing music from PoW, HYF and Presto because those albums suck and most fans don't want to hear them. The last tour drove this point home quite clearly. The crowds were far more into most of the new material than most of the synth junk. During Territories security came around with shock sticks to wake up those people who forgot to get up and buy a beer or take a leak.

YES. Exactly. Part of the reason I love Clockwork Angels so much is that it proves the band is not resting on its laurels. Why do half of their fans want them to?

:notworthy:

Because that half of the fans are a bunch of old fuddy duds.

Good posting except for Territories...I like that song.

La Villa

I know it's been played forever, but it is still La Villa.

loves me some la villa, but I don't miss it this tour. Too long and too difficult of a song to fit in.

I kinda hoped robes and fake sideburns would come out for the encores, but that's just me :)

It's not just you!

I'm not so sure I want to see Al in his old kimono at this point.

Do any casuals actually go to see Rush?

Oh yes. More than you'd think.

Especially on this tour, since Rush is suddenly "in".

Stupid casuals.

I got 21st row floor in chicago. The guy next to me missed both opening songs on both sets. The two guys to the other side of me left before the encore.

Turn in your Rush fancard to the box office immediately...you don't deserve these seats.

It's great that you like the song and got to hear it live. But most in the audience were about to ignore Peart's advice in "The Pass" and commit hari kari by the time that song was over. The first set was brutal, and the audiences were deader than I had ever seen them. Even the beginning of the second set in the S&A tour were more lively.

It's a good "let's give Geddy's voice a rest" song. I'd rather they did LVS than the monkey song.

I'd guess it is more like 75% of their fans.... And it is Because (for the majority of fans) CA and SnA isn't nearly as good as their classic stuff.

According to some maybe. To me, CA is better than anything they've done the past 30 years. A turn to their progressive roots, done in a modern style.
