Only a handful of people even noticed the polls, you do realize this? They're 1000's of TRF members. You're reaching a really small number of people...that's reality. But hey, you guys gotta have an outlet right?

What else would you be doing?

Like a drowning man will grab for any means of support. No need to feel so threatened. Other people are allowed to have their own opinions even if they don't agree with yours.

Eagle, the people who started these polls felt threatened. That's why the polls were started in the first place. I don't feel it at all.

I've taken opinion polls, at concerts, with real people, with a camera recording responses. The Terry Brown era is rightfully loved by many here on TRF, however it represents only a piece of the mosaic.

So you're saying we're not "real people?" Seriously?

We are a very select subset, of a subset, of a subset (and perhaps a few more) of real people.

Right, which I would think would make us a little more knowledgeable about the subject than the general public.

The general public? Lol

Why is that funny? There are a lot of casual fans that go to concerts.

Not a ton. Remember that Rush is a cult band. We're geeky.

Yes, but there are still people becoming fans today that don't know much more than than Tom Sawyer or TSOR, i.e.

Your assertion that Clockwork Angels gets swallowed by the REAL masterpieces is laughable.

The more time passes, the less is CA regarded actually. I still remember how almost everyone hyped it at first. But now? Not so much anymore compared to other albums (real classics). The novelty effect wears off.

I think it's regarded highly. People just get tired of the same old bit players hammering their favorite band's latest work, so they ignore these things. The proof is in the numbers--don't take my word for it.

Bit player? :rage: I thought I was a bench warmer or player?...

So because you're talking about it means you're not one of those people? Otherwise you would be ignoring it. :P

What numbers? The numbers in the polls disprove it obviously. And I posted the RYM link, that should be enough ratings for you, plus it's not just Rush fans.

But you just don't want to realize that you're living in a dream world where CA is a classic album, so you're ignoring the facts. ;)

Oh feel free to show us those recordings.

My opinion won't be changed by his showings.

I wish he'd just get over himself.

But today is a new day so woop woop!

I have actual footage of real Clockwork Angels. They exist.

I consider CA to be a modern day classic, really much more inspired and memorable than at least half of Rush's work, at least. But that's just my opinion.

I agree, and although it doesn't totally work for me, I love their ambition, and I sense more spontaneity than was evident on any of the nineties releases.

The words "classic" and "masterpiece" have been tossed around way to much in my view. It is neither in my opinion. The production alone removes it from consideration. We were discussing at least one "masterpiece" around here yesterday and that would be Close To The Edge. Now that is a masterpiece. All based on ones opinion of course but the majority can also have alot to say about it as well...

Didn't you say it contains mostly "filler"?

I did. But I don't think that it is by design.

But please shut up with all this CA fanboying and just get over yourself and start respecting other people. You are seriously getting on a lot of peoples nerves and its infuriating!

Can you just accept like a grown man that some just do not share your view or perspective? All you ever do is spam every thread with constant CA fanboying and disregarding every persons opinion you don't share. Countless individuals have asked you to back off and you never do.

Well, I do not agree with you on CA, but I respect your opinion, and I can see how your point is valid. Nevertheless, at least we can both agree A Farewell To Kings and Close To The Edge are classic masterpieces and masterful, classic pieces. :)

No, it means that we are likely not representative of the opinions of more casual fans or the general public.

But that's not the point being made here. The polls are only here, on this forum. So they do at least represent the views of the people here. And no, it doesn't make our opinions less valid.

I take a rotating group of about 20 friends to different Rush concerts each tour. These are guys that may only like a few of the radio songs, or may like a few popular albums, or who may not really like Rush specifically but like rock and roll and going to concerts. Virtually all were very, very receptive to CA. Yes, that is a very limited polling. But I think when you consider some other factors, the case for CA is strong. The album received nearly universal acclaim from reviewers, a group of people that have traditionally hated Rush. On the CA tour, the crowd was far more energetic during the CA songs than during the first setlist. That's probably because most were sleeping, drinking, or on their phones as they were subjected to a wall of synths, but there is something to that. Edited by LedRush

Whether or not your opinions are in the majority of this small subset of a subset has no bearing on the validity of your opinion. Until your opinion veers into quantifiable areas, that is.

Okay, never mind. You're just making comments now rather than actually having a discussion.
