For me, obviously

"He's a little bit afraid of dying...But he's a lot more afraid of Your Lion"

"To taste on you the fruits of life."

Hold your servant proudly and your hired hand= thought

Hold the red star proudly high in hand= Actual

2112;

II. Temples of Syrinx

Boy did I miss that one :smoke:

For the longest time, I heard that same line as,

"Hold your breath so proudly high in hand."

The one that takes the cake for me, though, because I literally just found out about a year and a half ago what it actually is...from Jacob's Ladder:

Actual: Thunderheads are rumbling in a distant overture

I heard: Thunderheads are rumbling in a distant, overt shore

I could never figure out how a shore could be overt. (Or, conversely, covert, for that matter).

There's already a few threads like this. They seem to pop up every couple years

I did a search and didn't see one come up, otherwise I would have just bumped the thread.

Did you do the search in the "Rush" section or just in this one?

I searched this forum.

The end of BODY ELECTRIC:

Goes:

It replays each of the days

A hundred years of routines

Bows its head and prays

To the mother of all machines...

I HEAR:

It replays each of the days

A hundred years of POUTINE

Bows its head and prays

To the mother of all THE CHEESE...

Mother of all THE CHEESE...

This one is not actually what I miss heard because I do know he lyrics to the song, but it sounds like a Geddy live moment to add to the "I'm Geddy Lee and I will sing any damned way I want to" On Diferent Stages Nobody's Hero I swear when he sings the the begining of the verse But she's nobody's hero,

I swear he's saying Butt Cheese! Ewwww why would I hear that :wtf:  :LMAO:

I find it strange because English isn't my first language and I can't hear what most people wrote in this thread. I think that Geddy sings really clearly and most of the time I can figure the lyrics by ear. I'm not able to do that with many other bands I listen to.

I remembered another

"The sky is Bitching violently"

OK I admit I always heard it that way too

I like to think of it as that I have such a creative mind that I can hear other things in there. :)

I really think they do this to us on purpose. The same words can sound so different by so many factors. The music, tempo and the other words that preceded or follow give our minds room to mold and shape what we want to hear.

Perfect example Cygnus X-1 Book II Prelude,

When our weary world was young

The struggle of the ancients first began. Now see the word young sets up your mind to subconsiously look for a match so it is very easy to extrapolate,

When our weary world was young

That struggle of the ancients first begun. I have sung this line silently and out loud (my apologies to ever may have actually heard me sing out loud) and both fit very nicely and sound like it was the word meant to be in that slot but the correct word is of course began. There are many other examples of this type of musical word play too many to be random, impo. So to me it truely shows how much thought is put into what is produced.
