well, to a point, I will agree. But some of these guys are ridiculous. My last show I ran into a guy who saw 11 shows on CA and over 120 in his life. Get real, people. That's a bit stalkerish

I never quite understood that either. I mean, I can handle a couple times on one tour for my absolute very favorite bands (about 2-3 bands total) if I'm seriously diggin' the latest album and want to soak in the live vibe...but never more than twice, and usually once is just fine.

Obviously Phish heads and Deadheads are a breed unto their own, but...I know some Rush guys that catch nearly every north American date, and have since the early 80s. They literally take weeks of vacation (saved up for years, for just such an event - a new Rush tour) to hit every show.

LOL, it take some commitment. for sure.

On prior tours where they didn't change things up I couldn't see going to more than maybe three shows...yeah it's good music, but I listen to different bands occasionally because I get tired of the same thing over and over....on some of the later tours, not such a problem, because they do change a few things here and there...given the time and funds to make it happen...I could probably handle seeing each of the different set lists twice...

As far as bands like Phish and the Dead, they play a different show every night, with no specific rotation, and even play the same song differently from night to night....still...that said I get tired of the same kind of music as well.... My taste goes from Rush to Pink Floyd, to Dave Matthews, to Umphreys McGee, to Transatlantic, to Zac Brown, to Steely Dan.....etc......

I didn't know that, cool. I'll be getting fresh Geddy then on the 14th in Chicago http://www.shootersloft.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/woot.gif

If you wait until the 14th to see them in Chicago, you'll be 2 days late - and you're going to miss the Detroit show too, since THAT is where they play on the 14th.

Doh, I guess it's the 12th I don't actually have the tickets, my friend does. I'm just playing Miss Daisy that night :)

I'm curious as to what I'll get in Columbus. It's possible they might switch some songs after the break.

Hopefully they yank all the songs that you like, and play CA in it's entirety

Well. Wasn't that friendly.

That's alright, Eagle. We'll stick him in a two by four cell with Hemispheres playing nonstop until the men in white coats come to take him out.

I dunno, using the excuse of wanting to see every song being performed live on the tour is theoretically sound, but in practice? Ehh. You STILL have to see 17 songs over and over within a small time frame.

Couldn't do it myself. Just seems excessively overkill. I'd rather burn the dough on different live performances from different bands. OR go to one Rush show, but ensure that it's a prestige seating event...in the first 3 rows and such. Spend that money on up front seats once vs. seeing them several times from afar? No brainer to me.

But I know there are some on here who ONLY go see Rush live, and little to no other concerts. So if that was the case, yeah, I'd probably see 'em a few times too.

As it is, I see well over a couple dozen acts a year, so...my concert budget is allotted to several artists a quarter. I do tend to drop the higher prices on the most prestige acts...like the Canucks. I have had premium seats for every Rush tour since SnA, that's for sure...everything in the pit, three front row shows.

And someone else in the same vein as Phish and Dead is Bruce Springsteen. He plays a different show each night, including requests from the audience (and not just his own songs), and again sometimes the same songs very differently [i love his[/font] version of "Blinded by the Light" during the credits of Live in Dublin:

]. Other than Rush, Bruce is the only other performer I own all of their albums and live DVDs. Both are absolutely fantastic live.

I too have a wide range of music taste including jazz, classical, etc. About the only thing not my fav is hip hop and rap. I have 141 GB of music and 31 GB of that is Rush.

The past few tours I've gone to see Rush play Milwaukee and Chicago for two reasons. One, Milwaukee was outside and Chicago was indoors in a freaking hockey arena that sounds like ass. Secondly, I knew the end was coming soon, so figured why not soak in another show when I can. But other than that, multiples aren't my thang, and I've been to hundreds upon hundreds of concerts over the past 32 years.

Years ago, one nincompoop ditched his wife during the birth of their child, because he had to go see Rush for the 95th or 103rd time.....and tell all about it on a certain Rush fan website. He had his signs at the shows, advertizing how many shows he has seen.......

It's always good to have one's life priorities in order.

He's not alone.

I am at a loss as to understand what it is about Rush that does this to some fans. Honestly.

In that sense, seeing Pearl Jam live more than once each tour makes much more sense than doing the same with Rush - if you're PJ fan. They can do 10 shows in a row with only a handful of songs repeated each night.

Well, I can assure you that the reports on here of the crowd being "dead" or "Uninterested" or whatever were completely f***ing ridiculous! That arena was on fire!!! In all of my Rush concert going (40 something shows since 1984 in 12 different states / never missed a birth!) this was about the most electric a crowd that I have seen! (not Rio crazy, but for a NA crowd - ecstatic!) "radio friendly" fans? Seriously? hahaha. I partied at a nearby bar with a plethora of Floridian hardcore fans - many of which were at one of the best Rush tribute bands from Orlando show earlier in the weekend, and met up with people from Scotland, England, Canada, Brazil. Yeah, there were no hardcore fans in that crowd (lol). This thread is quite the downer and could not be further from the actual vibe at that show - it was stellar. I am still reeling today from the excitement. I'm guessing some of the original posts were made by disgruntled Rangers fans...

Forgot to mention, I was watching salon or super silver's stream on periscope last night and someone, I think an Adrian in Brazil texts hello on periscope, so I send "say hi to Rod." HE DID! Hi Rod!

Oh cool!!! The Brazilian Rush fan club is quite big. Man, they HAVE to come around for one last show...

I noticed that the r40 tour shirt the guy in front of me was wearing said "North America" under the dates. That got me thinking.

It would be epic...I watched RIR again today. I don't care what people say--it's awesome!

Yeah...my Time Machine shirt says South America only, so you may be on to something.

It would be epic indeed. It's a shame that I have money to see them in the States but ZERO time to spare right now...
