I think CA is a fine late career album...Better than Signals?

Yeah I really dig CA but I can't go there.

I can...easily better than that album. Signals is a good album. Important to many people. Great songs are there, and I listen to it. My ten year old enjoys it. He likes the song about the "fridges of the city".

It's a short album compared to the epic Clockwork Angels. Songwriting is certainly not as strong as CA, but contains powerful moments. An uneven production to say the least.

CA has zero skippable tracks IMO. A pleasure the whole way through. Signals, not so much because of the dark nature of the sound.

Actually I find CAs length is part of its problem. By having all that time to ramble.. they rambled in medicore mid temp songs more than they should have. It's all opinion, of course, but Singals is a stronger effort with more memorable riffs and moments, which is why crowd reaction will always be stronger for it than anything on CA.

Sure it's not because older fans can afford to go to a Rush show?

Ok...missing Rush live when they refuse to play Limelight makes me glad I chose Nightwish.

Sorry...not sorry.

I think CA might be a better album than Signals...not entirely sure why fans are upset with CA being played a lot.

It was a massive success and struck a chord with many young fans, including me. I know I can be harsh towards it, but most of my harshness is directed at the DVD not the album.

But I find the album to be only good to very good, not a masterpiece (but me being me, I give it three weeks).

I hope all who see them are pleased. I love this band, and I am doing all I can to pretend and convince myself I don't care that I am missing out.

But I am truly bummed out.

Yeah, Limelight is my all time favorite, I was a little surprised at that but the rest was so awesome I was consoled. :)

Ca has an unfair advantage when compared to other records because of the amazing talent of the dude who did the strings imo

I guess you could say a superconductor...

The strings to evoke strong emotions yet make it easy to digest with its poppy goodness.

I rate vapor trails snskes and arrows and ca above everything since grace under pressure.

Can you try and see if anyone puts up a Periscope link tonight? Last time people on the Periscope comments said they were watching from Peru and Norway so it might work in Britain depending on your internet provider I guess??

I dig CA. I don't know if I dig it enough to hear 3 songs on this tour, but they can play hand over goddamn fist for all I care as long as the 2nd set stays killer

CA is a modern masterpiece and the bands best effort since Moving Picture. Yes its better than Signals and that's the album I hold most dear to my heart since its when I as a keyboardist/ Music Teacher discovered RUSH. Yet I know that CA is as good if not better than the 8 songs represented on Signals. Regardless, only three songs from the album, their much heavier songs is a great way to start the concert. When Those first power chords in CA hit the airwaves from Alex, you know that RUSH is back and kicking serious @ss. As for the The Anarchist and Headlong Flight it would be a crime not to have them in the set. They are the best thing written since Red Barchetta and Limelight. So yes in conclusion, three songs from Ca to start the show is perfectly fine and justified. I'm actually surprised there weren't more!

:codger:

I think CA is a fine late career album, but i just cant compare it to anything during their prime years, from 75-85. Better than Signals?..

I think it's their best since Signals, personally. I loved HYF and PW and Counterparts like no one's business, but CA just kicked ass and didn't take names. It took a while for Snakes, Presto, Test and VT to grow on me, but CA i just fell in love with the moment I heard it, especially headlong Flight, when it was demoed the previous year. Damn, was I excited.

As a last tour covering 40 years of music I'd rather have at least one song from each album

That's sort of my issue with the "anniversary tours"....they ALMOST did it on R30, (and the skipped album was Presto, again) But with PW and HyF getting a lot of airplay LAST tour, then I can see them skipping...(hell, they just MAY be tired of playing them from the last time)

I don't know why people keep saying HYF got "a lot" of coverage last tour. As I recall, they played a single song from it (Force Ten).

Power Windows was the album well covered last tour.

Mine too. #4 and #3, respectively, just behind PeW and MP.

It still wouldve been cool to see them dig up a HYF or Presto obscurity like Prime Mover or Chain Lightning etc

I am very happy with the set list, I love CA and will be glad to hear those songs again. There are so many they could play but lots of them have been used on the last couple of tours. Limelight I will miss but Jacob's Ladder and Xanadu will more than make up for it...I am so excited :yay:  :madra:

I'm happier than hell they dug out the oldies. It's been 30 years since I heard some of these live and after 14 shows of hearing YYZ, I am owed Xanadu again, damnit

I love HYF and PW and could honestly listen to them all day long, but I am really happy with this setlist. It's a heavier edged bit of all of their music and that's why I think they left certain things out. I think they wanted to leave with their last tour rockin loud, like they did when they first formed.

I listened to Wish Them Well on the trail and would like to see it live. I just don't think I need three Clockwork Angels songs for the LAST DAMN TOUR. I beginning to repeat myself perhaps this thread is dead to me.

You need to be clearer when making your point. Stop holding back.
