Neil is cursing his peanut size callouses, while nursing a Macallan. Geddy's using sign language to order room service. Alex is doing his sock puppet routine at the hotel bar.

Geddy is wondering whether his voice is going to hold up for the rest of the shows this tour.

Yep. No doubt. But they've been rehearsing for a while now so, we'll just hope for a good night every night.

Maybe we should all chip in and buy him some throat spray. :)

:Neil:Ok guys, I'm gonna go warm up because I owe it to the fans. What're you gonna do?

:Alex:Well I think I'm gonna play some Galaga. Maybe eat some Anthem Cheese, the Wensleydale is so kick ass

:geddy:I like it too, but it's hard to poo the next day. Must be something aboot my Jewish genes. Cheese gets to me in a funny way.

:Alex:You're jeans make you poo funny? Like Ha ha funny? How do you poo funny? Does it come out in a curly fry shape, or a zepplin shape. Are shapes even funny? WTF are you talking about Dirk?

:geddy: Hey guys who ordered these? What are "Yodels"? We don't have those in Canada. I didn't put them on the tour rider.

Hmmm....I always get twinkies. Yodels....look there's something inscribed on all the wrappings :Neil:

Oh it's from some guy named Mick from New York. :geddy:

What's it say? :Neil:

It's says--Enjoy these on me. And have a great night singing. Mick :geddy:

Who's Mick? :Neil:

Oh, it's that guy who sent me a bunch of marbles last tour for some reason. I dunno why he asked me if I sing with them in my mouth...weird :geddy:

If he actually did practice with marbles it would improve his enunciation.

:Neil: You guys reading any of the press clippings? Critics are giving us the thumbs up...man it took a long time.

:Alex: Really let me read that. Hey you're right...here's the headline "Geddy's voice impressive, as strong as ever. Each band member played some of the best solos I’ve seen, and that’s not easy — especially on bass and drums." Sniff! Hurts my feelings.

You were really good too Lerxt. I'm your number one fan. Screw the critics. :geddy:

:Neil: You're the man Lerxt, especially at stinking up the washroom before we get to use it

Hey Dirk, did you see that lady dancing to Neil's solo last night? :Alex:

Yeah I did. Did you see her bug out during The Camera Eye? Why would she do that, yet dance to a drum solo? :geddy:

Hit with the ladies. I told you guys. Chicks dig nerds who hit things with sticks. :Neil:

She seemed nice. Sucks she left right before MY solo. It's not fair :Alex:

Ouch I broke another nail. It hurts bad. Like the PinkPop festival, that's what it feels like. Remember that day? :Alex:

Oh is that your excuse for screwing up Between the Wheels last night? People are noticing Al. :geddy:

I can't help it. It's the nails breaking. My in ear monitors don't sound right. Maybe it's the cheese I've been eating. :Alex:

You know my motto: never complain, never explain. Just move on and try harder. It's worked for me for years :Neil:

Pop culture: In the big-inning: Baseball precedes Rush tour launch in Tulsa By JIMMIE TRAMEL World Scene Writer

Rush is kicking off a tour Friday night at the BOK Center. The band has been hanging out in Tulsa in preparation for the launch, and of course there have been random sightings of band members around town.

For instance, lead vocalist and bassist Geddy Lee was spotted during a Tulsa Drillers game this week at ONEOK Field.

And that should surprise no one.

Lee once said his one great escape while on the road is “watching these guys do their thing.” He was talking about baseball and said it while guesting on one of the ESPN channels to talk about fantasy baseball. FYI, his fantasy baseball strategy is hitters first, pitchers later because hitters tend to be more predictable.

“I would be embarrassed to admit how much time I spend on it,” he said, referring to fantasy baseball during a 2013 USA Today interview. “I scour the box scores, and I scour websites looking for players.”

In the same story, he told USA Today that Rush does intermissions between sets and the first thing he does is check box scores.

Everybody, rock stars included, has passions. Lee’s is baseball — fantasy and the “real” version.

A Canadian, Lee’s favorite team is the Toronto Blue Jays. He has an amazing collection of autographed balls (including a ball Commerce’s Mickey Mantle sent over the wall in the 1960 World Series) and he got his name on an exhibit (The Geddy Lee Collection) when he donated hundreds of balls to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City.

“I could talk forever about baseball, as you guys know,” Lee said during an appearance on VH1’s “That Metal Show. But recently I've gotten into the Yukon Blade Grinder troop. Nutso, but really funny stuff. They come from a town called Goatnut, TN. I hope to visit there one day, and hunt mushrooms.”

Lee then talked about being asked to throw out the first pitch at a Blue Jays game in 2013. He took the mound as “Today’s Tom Sawyer” played over the sound system.

“I’m very happy to report I threw a beautiful curveball for a strike,” he said during the VH1 program. “The funny thing is I didn’t intend to throw a curveball. It just came out.”
