Very strange seeing the DW lugs on that kit!!

Also, I see the "dimondback" china

no bell tree or wind chimes though :(

I wonder if he's got all 4 concert toms?

I see something shiny behind the left bass drum... I wonder if he will have the timbales too... My guess about the wind chimes and Temple Blocks is that they will be there like they used to... If he's going through all the trouble, he wouln't leave those out.... They will probably be attached to the riser, OR on a separate part and there the whole show.... You can't simulate wind chimes with the KAT too well.... I wonder if he has a few electronic pads, other than the KAT, in there..... And YES, the lugs look strange! It was the first thing I noticed too!

Well, we can see what kit will be used for Closer to the Heart (not Xanadu). the KAT being used for TSOR. Both songs looked to be mentioned in a medley with Natural Science on the video credits.

Great looking kit.

Either I've completely missed it, or I'm shocked this photo hasn't been making the rounds yet.

Discuss....

Chromey gonna be awesome during Far Cry, One Little Victory and Roll the Bones.

Edit: "moderately enjoyable"

(That's serious ;) )

(Kind of a double standard drooling over the vintage kit, but venom toward those that want vintage tunes played with it).

Heard Ged tonite sing Natural Science from SnA, sounded great.

I'm sure there are people that still don't know about this kit. And some people are really odd about seeing anything to do with the tour ahead of time.

KAT is present, Vpads on the floor tom side are present, the cymbals are his modern setup, and the kit is mic'd up. yea...this thing's definitely getting played. It's completely against his playing style now though, going to be very weird to watch lol.

The shine by the left kick is underneath the malletKAT, so it's probably either hardware or a light. And wind chimes can absolutely be sampled and triggered with the malletKAT. He's had harp flourishes, choochoo train sounds and all sorts of stuff triggered by that thing in the past just before the old riser would spin. I think WYSIWYG with that kit.

It's about time Neil!!! A real rock drummer going back to his roots, the way it has always supposed to have been!!! After seeing this, I do NOT want to see Neil playing that other DW Jazz drum setup he's been playing for the last 20 years. Finally Neil playing a real rock kit configuration for the first time since 1990!

That's what I was thinking when John Good (from DW) first mentioned this kit... with the way he sets up and plays now, he may muck up his tendonitis even worse!

Here is hoping his solo will be a duplicate of 1981 on that there kit. It certainly is set up for success.

You all can't tell me that Neil looks perfect behind that? I have missed that set up since 1989-90. Not talking bells. Talking double bass with concert toms and cowbells where they belong. Perfect.

Have HATED his DW look since 96.

II always thought he looked awkward playing the way his "new" kit was set up...almost like he put things where he wanted them, but was struggling to reach them...when he first came out with it, and was playing traditional grip, it looked a little more natural, but as he slid away from that style and back to matched grip, that set just didn't look comfortable...especially the angle of the toms, and where they were placed...but it's not me, and I never tried that, so I can't totally comment on it...

That is a thing of beauty.

Makes me even more determined to get to the Boston show. It's definitely NOT in my budget (kids in college, etc...) but man, I've got to see that kit in action!

I was waiting to buy tickets to the Boston show because if RUSH came out on stage with the usual setup's (Neils same DW kit, stage props etc...) then i was going to buy the cheap nose bleeds seats but now after seeing this, it is going to cost me as i am going to SPEND money to get as close as possible to the stage!

From what John Good (DW President) said in a recent interview (that SRO made most sites take down), this kit is going to be played in the second half of the show, which will focus on older material. It's modeled after the 1977-79 Slingerland "Black Chrome" kit. I believe it does have 2 timbales and a gong bass drum (in place of timpani). Not sure in terms of the additional acoustic percussion.

Does any know if the tourbook has more pics? Or text about the kit in the gear section? I going to an additional show just to see him play this thing!

This is the only pic I noticed that included this kit. There are pics of the other kit. Did not read the gear specs. I've got a lot to do before I leave for Tulsa tomorrow morning, but if I have time and think about it, I'll take a pic of that and post it tonight. No promises though.

I hope the first set (half) of the show is short!

1994 April 24 - Civic Center -- Hartford, Connecticut (Candlebox)

1994 May 1 - Civic Center -- Providence, Rhode Island (Candlebox)

1996 November 9 - The FleetCenter -- Boston, Massachusetts

1996 November 10 - Hartford Civic Center -- Hartford, Connecticut

1997 June 23 - Great Woods Center -- Mansfield, Massachusetts

Awesome, man we were at 3 of the same shows back then! That Hartford one in '94 was my first RUSH concert and at the time I had no idea what Hemispheres Prelude was.

P.S: We were joking that when Crapplebox was on we should go grab a hot dog and test out the earplugs and stuff.
