I know this post probably doesn't belong in the main forum, however I wanted to gain as big a response as possible. Sorry!

So, anyway, at the ripe age of 17, I have only recently discovered the wonders of Rush concert bootlegs. They are still a new concept to me, so I have a few questions I'd greatly appreciate any answers to.

1) Where can I find the best quality Rush concert bootlegs?

2) Is there one place where I can find all Rush bootlegs, or do I have to scour numerous sources?

3) Are there bootlegs in existence for every concert Rush have done?

4) Will any of you be bootlegging the R40 tour?

5) What would you say is the best Rush bootleg??

Thank you in advance!! :D

Ask Zumbi. I wish you luck but most of the bootlegs I have ever heard sound pretty lousy to me but many here don't share that opinion...

There is a whole sub forum dedicated to this subject: http://www.therushfo...fferent-stages/

To answer your questions, though:

1) You can get info and ratings for bootlegs here: http://www.digitalrushexperience.com/

2) I use http://www.dimeadozen.org/ You'll need an account, but it's not too hard to get one as they are constantly purging inactive accounts. Just keep trying. there's also an extensive hard drive going around (see the Different Stages forum)/

3) No

4) It's a good bet that most of the shows will be recorded

Send Zumbi a PM and he'll get you on board, I'm sure. And if that vine ever gets rolling again, put your name on the list, it has its own thread in the Different Stages subforum. Make sure you read the very first post otherwise you'll get confused and slow it down. The idea here is for you to get the drive, copy everything over, and send it off to the next person as soon as possible, and not be a prick and sign yourself on the list and have the drive in your possession for 6 months :P

You will need to purchase a hard drive yourself that can hold all the data from that vine HD, it's a few terrabytes in size  It holds hundreds of audio and video files from decades of tours.

My personal favorite bootleg is this:

Thanks Narps!! I'll ask Zumbi then. Or can you direct him to this thread?

He'll find this like a bloodhound finds a bone... :)

As far as torrent teackers go Dime is the best. But...be prepared to seed because they are pretty stringent on keeping good ratios (you seed at least 1:1). If you are just going to grab old shows you probabaly wont last long before being firewalled. Zomb is an excellent teacker not as highly trafficed but they do offer far more free leech periods so its not as hard to keep a good ratio. For my money a great tracker is Yeeshkul. Its a Pink Floyd tracker primarily but there are a ton of Rush and tons of prog shows being seeded all the time.

R40 shows will show up in Dime right off the bat. Probably by the next morning. If not sooner. Craziness. Some people will remember the days where one had to find an ad in a rag such as Record Collector or Relix and teare lists and wait to hear back before aquiring any shows. Then if you were lucky you would get a dingy 4th generation reused cassette that sounded like shit. No wonder Narps doesnt like them. ;).

All truth. But I kind of miss those old days...

Be careful where you download bootlegs. I got a worm on my last computer that I never was able to get off.

Who remembers Hot Wacks?

It's still here?

Wow! That is a blast from the, well, present. :)

As I recall they never seemed to be very Rush friendly, and I guess they still aren't as they only have three releases listed and one of them is a knock off of an official one.

As far as bootlegs go for beginners, I say find a few from a favorite tour and go from there.

I've only gotten them from Mininova and Extratorrent... Dime, and a few of the other good ones (PirateBay, Demonoid, etc) are usually pretty decent.... my virus software keeps them pretty honest as well.

I mostly use Pirate Bay for TV shows I've missed, and I sent the link to a friend who DIDN'T have good virus software, and he got something weird when he tried joining...

I would stay completely away from Pirate Bay and Demonoid if you are a PC User. Ha. Dont trust them at all.

Maybe try soulseek. Its a p2p client you download and there no spam or virus since you are basically dl'ing shared files.
