I'm listening to Canada '81. I could cry for what they once were and no longer are. Why do we have to age?

Yeah it seriously sucks. I guess it's only as you get older and see what aging does to you that you realize you should have taken advantage of so many things when you were younger. I remember people telling me that, but I think we just don't hear them and think things will never change.

You are so right. I was told the same thing. I thought I'd be young forever. Had I known, I would have lived life to the fullest every single moment.

The stupidity of youth. Or naivety I guess.

I don't want to sound like a real downer, but you can even hear the difference in how they used to play their instruments back then and how they play them today. Aside from playing faster, there is something else vital missing today that they had back then. I'm not sure what that would be.

youthful passion. They could now play with their eyes closed........but they don't have as much fire.......i'm sorry it's true.

I was going to use the word vitality but didn't. It would have been the right word. Having just listened to TSOR from a Moving Pictures tour bootleg, I'm going to listen now to it from CA Tour and see if I can hear what is missing (aside from the obvious).

Nah...

You are that crazy high school goth alone in the corner that giggles when your enemies scrape their knees on the broken glass you put in their path.

You live to whinge! (as do I!)

I'll get tossed out. I'm sure they'll think the reason for my depression is silly. On the other hand, it may be a good idea. I can say: I'm depressed after listening to a 34 year old bootleg and how Rush isn't like that anymore.

Then, a big argument will ensue over whether they are still as good today as they were back then, and everyone on the depression thread will forget they were ever depressed because they will be too busy arguing. :codger:

I'm such a humanitarian. :laughing guy:

From a live perspective, MHO is definitely Grace Under Pressure.

First tour I saw was at the Paramount in Seattle 1976... haven't missed a round yet except 1981-83 when I was in the Navy and stationed in Iceland.

Have a cupcake. Strawberry sponge with melon flavoured frosting, with a twinge of spearmint.

I just watched that DVD this morning. It is impressive.

No doubt about it. He was at his best in the eighties.
