I found SOCN, but see no way to access the page. Its empty with the only option to read the rules which I did skim over.

Do I need special permission or something?

You need to send a PM to 1-0-0-1-0-0-1 and tell him you want to join.

Really? I see the heading says to "Open Letters To The Powers That Be (Politics - please see inside for information on how to access this forum)"

I accessed it, and got no information on how to access the forum.

If it requires special permission, its really not for me.

Towards the end of that Rules post is the following sentence:

If you agree to these terms and meet the requirements listed at the top, send a PM confirming acceptance of the rules to 1-0-0-1-0-0-1 or GhostGirl for access to this forum.

I see. Thanks.

Don't feel like anyone here is trying to persuade you to join. Reports of SOCN being a religious cult are greatly exaggerated. Either you're into it or you're not.

And once you're into it, you can't leave! Even if 90% of the board wants you to!

We really should change the name of that forum to Hotel California...but there's the issue of the Eagles kinda sucking.

PM sent 1_0_0..............

Just remember, Reagan is only slightly behind Jesus in the Savior department.

Blasphemy! Reagan is bigger than Lennon (and Lenin).

I would gladly accept the name change if someone "checks out" any time soon.

And also remember that LedRush has Ebola...has had it since the first of the year.

That's right. He caught it in Bulgaria last year.

Wear a mask and bring plenty of antibacterial stuff with you. Plastic gloves will help too. And bring a port-o-potty.

Be careful with your grammar however. They will correct it if its not on point...

I believe you meant to write "...if on point, it is not."

I suppose that would have worked... :)

So I still won the bet, even if I lost my health, right?

I like Rush.

I have not read anything by Ms. Rand.

My philosophy of life changes daily.

The end.

Rand was a sociopath, Peart is a sociopath. Better beware kiddies.

Anyone above the age of 16 who hasn't debunked Rand's "philosophy" already is a douche in my book.

pratt a sociopath? seriously? :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: you need to get out of the house more (or get laid). what a Delta Bravo. maybe go play in the street with a blindfold on- really it's fun and i'll be you'e the best at it- dickhead.

You've been here for about five years, and not once during that time have you posted in a manner that makes us glad to have you. At this point I would classify you as "dispensable." Are you capable of changing that perception?

i din't get to say goodbye to the biggest dick on this forum- 1001! And saying "we expected" implies you have friends...and cyber friends really don't count. dick. in 5 years i never thought much of you either- you stick up for a-holes like tonyR who call pratt a sociopath? maybe try for some human friends...buh bye! i'll be back anyways.. you can't stop me- sorry that even here you have very littel control over things. now- go outside and play! cockbag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woo hoo, aren't you quite the big man.

Really, you are just going to keep coming back and back regardless of your account being suspended or your account being blocked? How old are you, 14?

Of course, if the worst comes to the worst 72 can just contact your Internet Provider and ask whether they think your behaviour is necessary. File an injunction and they could even have to provide your personal details so that the forum can take you to court.

Good luck. Keep coming back whilst the net tightens around your basement at mom and dad's.

You'd better run...

My only regret here was that he got this account past me, after his first three attempts at registering an alter were snuffed. He must have left the confines of his parents' basement to register this one. He did make the mistake of using what could be his real name in the first two email addresses, so there's that. A quick google of the name in his email address should reap rewards should you need to keep blocking him. You'd be amazed how even vague email addresses can leave a "paper' trail across the internet and lead you to the runt.

I think it is extremely important - for me, at least - to take art and literature, friends, culture, other's beliefs, social interaction, etc for what it is worth to me, but not losing sight of what it means to others ..

Life with a personal filter

The internet has provided a incredible means of interaction between individuals - usually, like-minded people ... One fantastic band brings us all to this forum, but the reality is that we all have differences that go beyond RUSH ...

In fact, how we all feel about RUSH, and the various stages of their career, is extremely diverse on its own ...

The Personal Filter in life is much easier when face to face - on the internet, with disagreements, emotions can, and usually get in the way of any previous bonding or camaraderie ...

In other words, if those here were in a room together, we'd all see each other in a different light -

I love ANTHEM, but by the time I got to ATLAS SHRUGGED, while it contained some inspiring bits in regards to personal best, I was rolling my eyes at some of the content ..... but that is not much different than the love I have for Cygnus X1 and the dislike I have for Roll The Bones - it is sometimes difficult to get my head around the fact that the same 3 guys created both, but, this is where the personal filter comes in ...

I know that in my case, coming to a forum like this, it is best to use that personal filter - if I disagree with someone, I still take something away that wasn't there before - it is up to me if that "something" is negative or positive

It’s interesting to me how Ayn Rand is considered insane by some and a genius by others. I read “Anthem” and while I appreciated the message I hated the book itself simply because it was very boring. I felt the same way about “Atlas Shrugged.” It contains lots of great points but she makes those same points over and over and over. It’s just sooooooooooo long. I have not yet read “The Fountainhead’ but it is on my list. I actually prefer to listen to Ayn Rand interviews. There are a handful of interviews on YouTube and I enjoy hearing her philosophy from her own mouth. Here’s a good one from 1959:

Her philosophy is often twisted and considered “ultra-rightwing” when the truth is that she hated conservatives as much if not more than liberals. If anything I think she is closest to a libertarian.

One aspect of her philosophy that her critics like to focus on is “the virtue of selfishness” which many people misunderstand. They assume she meant that you should get whatever you can, be as greedy as you can and don’t share anything with anyone ever which isn’t what she meant at all. What she meant was that putting yourself and your loved ones first is perfectly moral. In other words, if your family is starving and your neighbor’s family is starving you should feed your family first. After you feed your family, if there’s anything left, then giving that to your neighbor is also moral. Giving food to your neighbor first and letting yourself and your family go hungry is very immoral. It’s just like when you’re on an airplane. If the oxygen masks drop they tell you to put your mask on first then help children or others who need help. Why is that? Obviously, if you help others first you may pass out and then you’re of no help to anyone. She was never against charity as long as you don’t sacrifice yourself or your loved ones. She was against the forced charity of income taxes.

I’ll jump off the soapbox now.

Given that she's dead now, she won't be able to answer this question, but why is it moral to see to your own needs before anyone else's? I can see why it's pragmatic, but why is it moral?
