Potentially the best instrumental rock song of all time. It has the greatest f***ing guitar solo of all time.

La Villa Strangiato >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> YYZ

Imo

Absolutely, YYZ is the most overrated Rush song IMO

Whaaaaaaaa????

Not that it's bad, it has its really good parts; but I've always thought the riff was decently annoying honestly lol

Okay, your Rush Card has been revoked.

Oh great, I bash one riff in one song, and I can't be a real fan anymore...does this affect my ambassadorship?

Yeah sure, it's a great technical showoff by the band; still, the only instrumentals I like YYZ more than are Malignant Narcissism and Limbo

Love it! My favorite version is Rio. The crowd is nuts! And Alex does a weird rant.

That's another thing I bet we'll see this tour, La Villa with a rant

I would have to question why anyone would be here that didn't like La Villa Strangiato. :(

There was a time I would have thought the same thing.

Stick around here long enough, and you won't be asking it. :(

I don't believe half of what I read on here when it comes to opinions. I think a lot of people just like to be dissenters. Makes them feel important or something. They don't like to be packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes. :)

Does Sting need to be brought up in every thread? :)

What do you have against Gordon?

What makes you think The Police influenced Rush in any way, shape or form? I can't hear it at all.

Do you see your role in the band being similar to that of Andy Summers? Yeah, actually I do. I respect him and I really enjoy his guitar playing because he is a guitarist in a band. He's not a guitarist on his own, he's not the guitar player. He's the guitarist in the band, and the band is the unit. It's one musical entity and he's a part of it. I think that's really important. I think adding all the keyboards and synthesizers and stuff with us, it taught me that. It's not important to stand out. It's more important to be a piece of the whole pie. Yeah, the guitar hero doesn't jive with me. Initially did you listen to those kinds of bands? Oh, sure. That's sort of my early influence. That's pretty obvious on the first few albums, certainly the first album. Jimmy Page, early Clapton and Jeff Beck were my big influences. But if I was to cite any influences now, I would say people like Andy Summers, Midge Ure (Scottish guitarist who played, in the main, with The Rich Kids, Thin Lizzy, and Ultravox), people like that. They're more a part of a band and see their role as being a part of a whole, really, rather than being lead guitarist of this group.

Doubt we'll see the rant, but it would be nice. I'd say La Villa is a must in the setlist though.

Troutman, my comment was a joke. It was a new TRF Inside Joke. I think.

If you were an ambassador for Moving Pictures, I would certainly think so!

But nah, you're safe.

If anyone accosts you in a dark alley and asks to see your Rush card, though...boy, I wouldn't want to be you...

I've always thought Distant Early Warning and Walking On the Moon have very similar beginnings, in terms of style
